This is either an early April fool, or Hiker has lost his mind.

I'll leave if the latter is true.

I don't know what to say...

This is either the best prank ever on a huge fanbased game.. Or the worst call ever. Half of the hard working people here are cussing every admin here off, while the other half are like "deal with it", then the other half are cussing them off. What happened? Just because you lost a colored name and buttons doesn't amount to this, I agree, I would be mad and furious, but not this far. You guys put a ton of effort into this site, and now because of one change, you guys just don't want to help support it? You guys can still do every single thing you have been doing, except post on the Legends Forums, which some people say is 90% spam, so that can't be a ginormous lost can it? But Tweedy, you can't be like "Oh, everything's going to be alright.." because that is extremely tacky, since you just recently acquired a "safe" (technically) rank only maybe a few weeks ago. It just sounds like you already know about how you're keeping your rank, how do you know?

All I'm saying is.. Just think, if all the ex-staff members do what they have been doing, it could be a couple of days before your rank is yours again.

You obviously have no idea just how much effort and trouble we put ourselves through as moderators. It's a ton of work and a near-thankless job, and then to just have it removed for no better than "ololol chang guis *restart button*" is just.. I can't describe the disgust I hold for the administration with this decision!

I'm not going to go filling my post with fuzzy bunnies, despite how much I may want to, but I'll tell you this - I don't care what little game you guys are playing, I just can't accept that you would turn away your moderator team after all the effort we've put into keeping these forums, chat, and the community running! You can take your promotions and shove it, because I officially want no part of an administration that would do something like this.

I'll talk to you guys on RS or MSN or whatever.

I may not have an idea of how much effort people put into THIS site, but i know how much effort i put into the game i used to administrate and develop, and one day my position was took away from me, but i did not complain i simply asked why and i was given an answer that was the end of it, nothing good comes out of shouting your mouth off and trying to be all big and hard about a sitution. You deal with it and move on, if that meens leaving the place or staying and getting on with it you do whatever suits you best, you don't act like a pathetic child and go around swearing, there are of course younger people that use these forums and you have most probablly spoilt this community and forum for them today.

Good going, i hope your all proud of yourselves.

Well with all the crap that's going on now, I doubt we will have an april fools this time around (and cuz no one is really in the mood for another surprise now). The prank we were planning on was to change the forum theme for april 1st to something completely absurd (since so many people say that the theme is what makes RV feel like RV, or something along those lines). The 'new theme' was going to be something very plain and boring, similar to the default phpbb... I guess i'll get in trouble for 'leaking' from the hidden forums now, lol.

Oh well, what are they going to do? De-mod me? The admins clearly don't show us respect, so I guess we'll return the favor by spoiling their plan.

This. This single most prudent comment being spread throughout this topic is what brings me disgust not only of the administration at this point, but of the community that can't seem to grasp the idea of those of us rightfully upset over this.

It's not because we've lost our ranks. We could easily earn those back - Hell, we previous mods have the best track records out of the candidates. As far as I'm concerned, this would simply be a break for those mods willing to brown nose for the time being.

What's so abominable about this situation is that they're actually willing to, without a shred of respect towards those of us who have spent countless hours fulfilling our duties as moderators, as I state again is a near-thankless job already (In fact, we get more negative things thrown at us that positive, and yet we still do our jobs for the sake of the site), and the administration just drops us all on a whim of their own.

I'm sorry, but I have nothing but burning disrespect for an administration that would do that. It's not the rank the matters, it's the respect and common decency - Two things that this entire community is supposedly founded upon by those "Village Values" hiker himself preaches so earnestly! The only thing that upsets me more about such contempt being shown towards me is the contempt the administration held to the much more seasoned mods. The fact that the community is further degrading their wounded pride is simply repulsive.

Haha Dont you also need staff to pull off an aprils fools ?

Or like at least support from (ex)staff.

Meh since its already been leaked, there WAS gonna be good things happening but also decided by Pretty much all of the people who lost their ranks today, but after the last few years pranks, and people complaing, It was decided that this years event would be toned down. Oh well.

@goten, yes ive lost a rank as well, Part of the ranks description, is "a rank that you keep earning and earning" Just because you dont have it anymore, Why should you act differently to when you didnt have it before ?

:bunny: happens, Welcome to the real world

Exactly, and most of us who held a rank did precisely that - We worked out hinds off. As far as I'm concerned, that's "keeping it earned." But again, it's not about the rank - It's the fact that they dropped our ranks, when we did absolutely nothing to justify losing them. We did the exact opposite, in fact. And yet the thanks we get is being key examples of the evident hypocrisy that the administration (apparently) runs on.

Why should I not "earn it" anymore? I've said this at least twice now - I want nothing to do with a hypocritical, disrespectful administration. The reason I was proud to be a moderator of RuneVillage in the first place is the pride the administration supposedly held in their values! They're free to do what the want, yes, it happens, welcome to the real world and all that crap.

Fact still remains that I, as well as the rest of the (pre)moderator team, have every right to be upset with this.

I don't even know why you got a Staff rank in the first place, sure you do the work, but before you got ranked, all you could say, "When am i getting staff!?!?" and all that garbage.

Loving the April Fools this year Hiker xD

well it seems that many of the previous mods/staff members/ legends are pretty furious about this and i guarantee i don't know the whole story and since i don't know what it's like to be a "person of power" on runevillage i have no idea what it feels like having been stripped of a rank. But you honestly have to think about why the Admin team did this... did they do it to see who they wanted to be part of the transition phase to the new runevillage? did they want people they know that knew every aspect of the transition so those people can answer questions and "train" the older mods/ staff members along with the possibly new staff members on how to deal with everything and get used to working with the newer, updated, better runevillage? I don't know hiker well but i do know that as a leader (online and in real life) he has had a major struggle dealing with how to handle this and has had to prepare himself for this bashing from some of the more upset mods and the spam from villagers wanting to be "a branz n3w m0d pl0x" so all i'm saying as a bystander is just to wait it out and if it means that much to you to have that title then please think about it from his point of view. He's had to make a huge (and most likely temporary) decision for the betterment of runevillage.

Please be open minded.
Mike
