P2PMeleeGuide By Evil Knighte There are tons of guides out there, so, I'm gonna do a guide on my specialty, melee
Index:
1: Stats
2: Gear
3: Things to bring
4: What to do
5: What not to do
6: Where to PK
7: How to PK
8: *NEW* F I Hate's Mini Melee Guide
----
1: The Stats.
The stats make the player, you aren't going to pk with sucky stats, cuz that means you'll be pwned.
Now, I find that PKing in upper 70s and low 80s is fun and you also break in some good income
These stats will get you to exactly level 80
60 atk
74 str
60 def
67 hp (I calced this, these are my stats XD)
43 pray
60 mage (god spells are always nice to have)
92 ranged (you can get lower, but, you might as well max it XD)
Now, this will get you to exactly level 80. I know, because those are the stats I have, except for the pray mage and ranged part.
These stats will break in some good income, nobody will expect you to hit 20s at lvl 80 naturally with a dragon long right
----
2: Gear
This is what you should bring to the wildy.
Dragon long or battle axe
Full rune w/ kite.
Dragon, Ruby, or Diamond ammy (I prefer ruby)
Boots of lightness (give you a little extra run time)
Cyan colored gloves (just to match, lol)
Then, take black hide armor with you, put arrows into the quiver space, and carry the bow in your inventory, just in case. You can take mage stuff, but I prefer to take just that, you can take entangle spells if you want though, they help XD
----
3: Things to bring:
You'll need a full inventory of sharks, DO NOT BRING LOBSTERS, you want to last longer than your opponent. So, if you eat sharks, and he eats lobsters, who's gonna win? Bring a super set, or a regular set if you don't have the herblore to make a super set. Don't buy sets, they usually don't sell because there's a NO POTIONS option in the duel arena. You're all set to PK.
----
4: What to do.
Now, unless you're going into multi alot (like the castle) I prefer not to bring a PK group. 1: It's kind of noobish, 2: They can get annoying, 3: You want the loot all to yourself
Restore your prayer at the Monks Guild thing, it gives 2 extra points, and they also heal you if you are going back to the bank and don't feel like munching your sharks.
---
5: What not to do.
Don't go into multi without a team. I usually like to stay in non-multi, because having a team can be a hassle, what with backstabbing and sharing, it's annoying...
Don't pray unless your opponent does. Your defence should be able to handle his blows, if not, just eat, if he puts on his protect from melee, do the same. And then whip out your ranging gear But PUT ON THE BOW FIRST, then your armor.
Don't protect item, it's useless and it screams "I can't afford to lose"
Don't PK nonskulled, unless somebody attacks you non-skull, don't fight non skulled. Always try to skull, it also lures people to attack you, then when you crush them, they're sorry.
If you're losing, don't run, they'll chase you, and you'll do no damage. It's best to stay and fight. You have a much better chance of winning trying to hit him then trying to run. Even if you lose, at least you tried, and you probably had a great chance . But, don't let the odds get to you, if he's 3/4 health, and you're 1/2 health, you always have the chance of hitting a few 25s on him with your long special.
Congrats, you now have honor, one of the best things to have while PKing.
----
6: Where to PK.
Now, I don't want to tell you what to do. But I usually like going to the castle. Yes, it's multi in some parts, just lure your opponent to the skele mines, then fight 1 on 1. If he's a good PKer, or arrogant, like most, he'll run after you, not thinking he's gonna be owned without his team. Then, lure the next team mate of his. And before you know it, you've taken his whole team out by yourself.
Also, the members dungeon down in Edgeville dungeon is fun. I see a few lvl 80s and 70s run in there, it's also fun because if you close the gate, you get an extra hit, that extra hit can be the difference between a kill, and a noob going "Na na na na na, you can't catch me"
Green dragons. This is a good place to PK, but, it's in lvl 30 wildy, so watch out for lvl 100s. If you don't think you can take lvl 100s, even 1 on 1, I suggest staying away from here. But, it's fun to go here, because you can train here. Also, instead of bringing those extra sharks, bring a pray pot or 2, and train on them with protect from melee, that way if somebody comes, you're ready.
There are other spots, but, like I said, I don't wanna tell you where to go, you're not a baby
---
7: How to PK.
Now, this is going to be a scenario at the castle.
You're at the castle, all alone, and you have everything I told you to bring. Suddenly, you see 3 people coming your way, you know they're a team because they aren't attacking eachother. You run down to the skeles, and somebody attacks you, puts on protect from melee, and you do the same. What do you do?
A) Fight him, he's praying but so are you, you should win.
B) Whip out your bow, put on your ranging equipment, and shoot him.
C) Whip out your bow, special him, and then put on your equipment. You'll get in a decent shot, and he'll put on range protect. Then you can whip out your sword and attack him.
If you guessed A, you're incorrect, you might win, but you've wasted time and food. Time and food are an essence in PKing.
If you guessed B, you're also incorrect, you don't want to put on your ranging equipment and then attack, it'll be too late because he'll have protect from range on.
If you guessed C, you're correct. You should always put on your bow first, special him, then put on your gear. If he already has protect from range on before you have your gear on, simply leave your gear on, and take out your primary weapon. Switch off while he battles you, while he's trying to break your protect from melee, you're hitting him with your long or battle axe, and your bow. XD
--
You should be ready to head out into the P2P wilderness. Have fun. Be safe, and remember, don't run away

Tips By F I hate Quote:
I am lvl 107, I have trained in wild since level 95, and usually pk every day. This is what I find best to do while pking. Get Your attack higher, or the same as your strength. Why you ask? Don't you hate it when you have someone full red barred and you just hit zero, zero, zero? Strength is useless if you cannot hit, therefore attack is very useful. I myself am 90 attack, 87 strength, and 82 defence.
What to wear: Full rune kite drag long, strength or glory ammy, recoil ring
Ok what I bring: 3 prayer potions, super set, dragon dagger poisoned, if there are any mages around bring dragonhide legs and body, if there are any rangers around bring granite shield. Also wear recoil ring in your ring slot and have full inv of sharks.
Many people do not realize how much prayer will help you pk. When I drink super strength potion, and do not have 15 % strength prayer on, i can hit 27 max. When I have it on, 31. (no special for both)
For fighting rangers and Meleers
When you see an opponent, Drink super set, and turn on 15% attack and strength prayers. Use chop or slash on drag long to start. Do not use your specials right away, but save them for when your opponent is 1/4th hp or lower. When he is 1/4th hp, maybe even 1/3rd quickly take out your dragon dagger and use all 4 specials in a row. That is 8 hits, and they are very quick and powerful. If you can catch them low hp and get in 8 hits that all do damage, it is almost for sure death for them.
For mages - First only put on your draghide legs( if you put on full draghide he will usually log out), and let the mage entangle you. Once the Entangle is done, put on the full draghide, and MELEE him, do not range! Magers have VERY low defence, and will die very quick to melee. Once the mage is under half hp, use your dagger specials and finish him off.
Things not to do - Use protect prayers. Totally takes away all honor and respect from a majority of the high level pkers.
Afk pk - Completely sad, and will give you a lot of enemys
Places to pk - Lever to wilderness (52 wild)
-Ladder to mage bank
- Green Drags
- Multi areas, IF you are with a clan/ team
- Rune rocks over to greaters (great clan/team pking)
- Red drags

P2PMageGuide By thps3n64 Index
1. What Stats you want.
2. How to get those godly stats you want .
3. What to bring with you.
4. How to pk.
5. What to and not to do.
6. Where to pk.
Alright we'll start off by saying hi, my name is thps3n64, aka shorty p k, shorty is my p2p mage pker, I'll have a stat picture of him later on.
1. What Stats you want.
Alright for this it depends on what lvl you plan on being but since we're talking about p2p here we'll talk about the best of the best.
Attack - 40
Defense - 60+
Strength - 50
Hits - Varies
Magic - 76-80+
Ranged - up to whatever you magic is (usually to raise your hp or if you feel like range pking)
Prayer - 43
Combat from 65+
2. How to get those stats.
Start off by training your magic with basic Wind Strikes, until you get to Earth Strike, then use that until 80, its cheaper than fire strike, unless of course you have money to throw around then by all means use chaos or something else when you reach it.
I did High Alcs alot to raise mine because of my main fletching bows.
Around 50-60 magic start casting with defense on, or you could do it from level 1 and stop at 60 defense if you don't intend to pk before 80 mage.
For the Attack and Strength just kill men or something until 40 and 50, if you can't figure this one out you really shouldn't be making a pure mage
Prayer, do this after your Attack and Strength because hopefully you burried your bones during combat so you can buy the exact amount of big bones you need for 43, kinda costly, then again so is 80 magic.
Ranged, just buy arrows and start shooting stuff (look at the ranged guide)
3. What to Bring With You
Now that you have your Stats, Done the Mage Arena (I'll add Mage Arena Details later on) You're probably wondering what to bring to pk right? Well here you go
I usually take about 50 God spells
20-30 Entangles
about 5 Charges
Super Defense Pot
AntiPoison Pot
Mage Robes with staff, AntiDragon breath Shield or be cool like me and pk in full splitbark with wizards boots.
Full lob/sharks
4. How to PK.
Find your opponent, cast charge, hit him with entangle (make sure your a few spaces away from him), then unleash the god spells, when entangle wears off, recast it and move away again, then cast more god spells, repeat until opponent is dead. If your opponent starts to run away, entangle him, get in front of him, and cast more god spells, be prepared to do another entangle though.
5. What To and What Not to do.
What to do
Learn to be very quick with your spells. When you opponent starts to run away you have to be very quick with your entangle or otherwise he's bound to get away from you.
Only pray if your opponent is. (Or as Deathbunny says, Run from them because prayer is over powered and you can only hit 18s max with them praying, I agree with him/her)
If your w/o a team, which is what i prefer to do, STAY OUT OF MULTI, you will be teamed and if you are, don't whine its your own fault.
What Not to do
Do not pray unless your opponent is, respect is worth much more than what you would think.
Don't wear stuff unless you can afford it, Ex. I pk with full Splitbark and mage boots because its the best and i can afford to replace it, if you can't afford it don't worry, mage robes are fine and very very cheap, nothing to be ashamed about.
Don't forget to double check your inventory before you venture out into wildy, it would suck to get out there and realize you forgot your bloods.
6. Where to PK
This One I can't really help you on, as I only PK in one spot.
In Edgy Dungeon at Chaos Druids, wait 10-15 mins (I train my ranged on them while I wait) and then switch to mage gear and start hopping worlds until you find a worty opponent, I'll post a few good Kills at the end to show you how good this spot is. =D
7. My Stats and a Few Pk's

[hr]
[hr]
P2PRangeGuide Zer0123nigge What should I wear?
You should wear a Rune large,Dragon ammy,Full black hide,Boots of enlightment,
legends cape or your clans cape
What other items should I bring?
Bring
1-2 Super Defense pots. Why you ask? Well duh more defense = you not getting hit as much.
1 Pray pot
1 range pot
1 anti poison
150 rune/addy arrows. Poison if you are cool like me :>
Full sharks
What and what not to do while range pking.
[ Do Nots ]
1. Do Not protect pray meele magic or range. You ruin your repsect as a Pker and much more.
If your going to pray .. The best time to pray if you want is no food or one or two
food left. If you do this put STEEL SKIN and your protect prayer. Strongly recommanded not
to pray when your in fights. If your opp is praying by all means pray. But if its 1 v 1
don't pray if he isn't.
2. DO NOT FIGHT AT CASTLE... Its just a waste of food from teleporters.
3. Do not "x" on monsters.
4. Do not teleport if your pking. Teleporting just screams i'm a little girl please don't kill
me. If your skulled and you teleport you lost my respect and half of all levels higher
then 90's respect.
[Do's]
1. Try to pk with a team. As a wise "el eazy" said once "team or be teamed" YOu can't live long
in the wild without a team. If your pking solo pk at greens or non muilt.
2. Know your opp, Are you really dumb to attack a ranger such as "stoned_56 or fir3g0d?"
( there both 99 ranging ) if your 70 ranging? .. IF someone is higher range such as 86 and your 82 by all means
attack him and hope for the best.
3. Learn when to specail at the right time.
[ Specing at the right time ]
Heres the question of many puzzled rangers.. "when do I special?" There is two thoerys.
Exp one.
Your opps hp bar is [ ;~~|~~~~~~~]
~ stands for red barre
| stands for half hp
; stands for between green and red
Special then, if that doesnt work do it again then take out a dragon dagger and specail him
once with that.
Exp two.
Your opp is full hp but you have a team of 5. Run at him and specail ONCE
when hes low hp like exp one. Specail him again.
What level to Range pk at?
Start pking with range at 75ish range. You won't hit rune as much but you will
kill other rangers.
My pure ranger is 85+ ranging and he still hits rune bad.. Execpt when I hit 20 20 on a 93
but thats a different story.
Good ranging levels.
78 and 79. I hit rune mostly every time with these levels.. but thats my imo.
85,96, and of course 99.
Where do I pk at?
IF your soloing go to greens or rune rocks or around in non muilt places . If your 85+ ranging wander
off to reds and gds and hope for the best.
if your teamed. Go with your team to Greater Demons or Red dragons or members gateish.
How do I pk at reds?
You have 3 go inside and have the rest outside of the gate and watch.

F2PMagingGuide By DaflyingpigOkay. So you say you want to be a great f2p mage? I think you have come to the right place. I shall teach you how to get an 0wnag3 f2p mage from a level 3 file.
Here are the basics. Most every part of this guide is from my own personal experience.
First off, you will need some important things.
// you will need a noob level 3 account
// it would help to have a decent main file with some cash
// runes, but they can be bought with cash
// a non-laggy computer
To start out, you shall create your own noob level 3 file. I will not go into details seeing as to most of you should know how to do that.
If you have a main file with plenty of cash flow, good, skip this paragraph. If not, read on. If you seriously need cash, here is an easy way to make good money if you have time. Take your level 3 file, go to barbarian village. Find the bronze pickaxe respawn (buy a better pickaxe later if you wish). Take the pickaxe, and mine tin ores in barbarian village and drop them until you reach 15 mining. Then head over to the southwest varroc mine. It is less crowded there. Mine iron ores, and go to varroc and deposit them in your bank. Repeat this process until you have a minimum of 1000 iron ores. Then go to the forums here and find the mining and smithing stall. Make a post saying ‘selling 1k iron ores for 100gp each’. Usually somebody will buy them if you have 1000 or more. Take that money, and head over to port sarim. Buy all of the death runes and chaos runes with your 100,000 gps. When the shop is out of runes, switch worlds and repeat until you have no more money. Then go to the magic stall and make a post saying selling ‘death and chaos runes’. Sell the death runes for a minimum of 300gp each and the chaos runes for a minimum of 150gp each. You’ll make guaranteed profit that way. Just repeat until you have as much money as you desire.
Take that money, go to the forums and buy people’s mind and air runes. Buy around the same number of mind and air runes. Don’t pay more than 20gp per rune though, it won’t be worth it. Then go to the staff shop, and buy yourself an earth staff. If you have the chance, go and get yourself some wizards robes and an amulet of magic. Then head over to the port sarim jail and mage the creatures locked up. Use wind strike until you have enough magic for earth strike. After you can use earth strike, just train with earth strike, its cheaper than fire strike. Train with your staff set to ‘defensive’ mode. Set it so that your staff can automatically cast earth strike to save you clicking time. You can get easy defense and magic experience this way. You can train on other creatures too. Creatures with armor are easiest because you can hit them easier. Good spots include: Black Knights Fortress & Port Sarim Jail. NEVER train magic on wizards or dark wizards. It’s especially funny when people try to attack wizards with magic and it splashes. Guards are easy targets too. You can go on the mountain outside of Black Knights Fortress and mage the guards from there since they can’t touch you there. There is a fence outside of varroc west bank. West of the guards, stand there and shoot. In edgeville, there is also guards and a gate.
Keep training this way until you have earth blast minimum. Complete quests until you have 32 quest points. Then go and do the dragon slayer quest. Trust me, your level 1 attack and strength won’t matter for now. Make sure you have the dragonfire shield. Get yourself a law rune in case something goes wrong. Complete the quest until the part of fighting the dragon. Go and buy yourself about 10 lobbies just for emergencies. Then buy yourself around 50 death runes (more wouldn’t hurt) and 150 air runes.
Here is the list of recommended gear for fighting the dragon:
// wizards hat and wizards robe
// amulet of magic and earth or fire staff depending on which spell you are using
// 10 lobbies for emergencies
// runes for earth or fire blast spells
stand within the pink box…dragon shouldn’t be able to attack you when you shoot from inside there

Now that you have the above, go to karjama. The lobbies are for healing yourself from monsters attacking you before you get to the dragon. Go and open up the secret gate by the lesser demons if you desire. Then open the gates and enter the dragon’s lair. Run to the far west. Set your staff to ‘defensive’ mode and set it to automatically cast earth blasts or fire blasts. Stay within that rectangular area and the dragon can’t attack you, it’s a safe spot. Just mage it until it dies. It took me about 16 fire blasts <<pure 0wnag3, I know>>. Then you will be teleported out and will get some quest points. You will also gain tons of defense exp and some strength exp. The defense exp is great for mages. Then when you’re outside, teleport with the law rune that you brought and teleport to varroc. Congrats! You have now beaten the hardest f2p character possible.
Now for the pk`ing part:
The ideal pk`er shall have the following stats…
60 attack <<if you run out of runes, why not pull out a rune scimitar and slash a few times and actually hit rune armor?>>
45 strength <<its better to hit opponent more often than hit a few large numbers>>
60 defense <<mages could use more defense, but 60 is enough for now, 70 would be great>>
65 hp <<more hp = better>>
70 magic <<higher means other mages can’t touch you and you hit more often and ‘splash’ less>>
60 ranged <<optional, I hate ranged, but it gives more defense exp and hp exp>>
43 prayer <<it helps tons>>
Yes, that is what I’m trying to achieve with my mager at the moment. But for the 70 magic part, pk with fire blasts in wildy, it’s the most fun way to gain magic exp. I got from 59 to 68 with mostly fire blasts from pking. It also gives you a better feel for pk`ing and you’ll have more experience pking. Just never bring less than lobs when pk`ing unless you like lumby.
To train stats…for lower levels, you can train on dark wizards. South-east varroc if you don’t really have much food. Train on the one south-west of skeleton mines in the wilderness if you got plenty of trout or other food to spare because the level 20 dark wizards can hit up to 6 at a time, even on me. But magic levels add to magic defense, so it helps tons. When training combat this way, use rune scimmy, and wear wizzy robes with magic ammy. Fastest experience. Because their mages, they also have magic defense, so don’t cast spells on them. They don’t have armor, so your scimmy should have no problem. Fast exp, and they can drop nature runes too. You can train it like any other melee guy if you want, just remember this formula.
Attack level + strength level < magic level * 1.5
That means always make sure that your magic level times 1.5 is higher than the sum of your attack and strength levels so you don’t gain extra combat levels.
Training ranged is up to you any way you wish, its optional, I hate ranged, so I don’t really encourage it, but then again, it’s sort of being biased, but that’s me.
For prayer, get up plenty of money, and then buy a minimum of 3360 big bones from players. Just round it up to 3.5k big bones. It’s a little over a million gps if you buy them for 300gp each, but it’s highly recommended.
Start pking when you have a minimum of 50 combat, or else your runes are mostly wasted for iron pks. Rune pks are what you are aiming for.
Here is what I advise to bring while pking:
// wizard hat and wizard robe and monks robe (bottom)
// amulet of magic and fire staff
// 100 death runes and 403 air runes per trip and a law rune for teleporting
// 20 nature runes, 30 earth and 30 water runes for bind spells
// lobsters or swordfish, nothing else
// bring rune kite shield, its recommended when melee people hurt too much
The wizzy stuff is basic for a mager…you want to have high magic attack bonus. Fire staff adds to magic bonus and enables you to automatically cast out fire blasts. You don’t want to bring like 1000 death runes if your probably not going to use them. Mainly because if you die, you’re pretty much screwed. 100 fire blast spells is usually enough for 1 pk`ing trip. Same with 20 bind spells. But since you’re going to be a mage, you won’t have much armor, so expect to be hit often. That’s why I’d advise don’t bring any food lower than lobsters or you could be eating so much that you’re not even hitting your opponent’s scimmy. But that’s where the rune kite comes in play. You’ll still have pretty good magic attack bonus, but it stops a lot of the melee guy’s scimmy from hitting you (same for rangers). And if you’re losing, turn on protect items if you don’t teleport in time.
I have everything against pk`ing at giants, so I don’t do that. I almost always pk at dark warrior’s fortress, otherwise known as the castle. Varroc wildy is mostly pointless…way too hard to get decent pks. Bind spells are always useful. I like to cast a bind spell on a melee guy in rune, then blast him. That way, he gets damaged fairly well before arriving to slash me. If you have the edge, keep talking and try to distract your opponent from eating. Like ask him what his stats are or something. If he’s typing, he’s not eating, so he mite die easier.
I seriously don’t feel like typing up any more. If you need any more help, feel free to pm me on runevillage or pm me in game. My mager file is called ‘da magin pig’.
Remember, this is my first guide, and this is based on my own experiences. Comment on it if you wish, but don’t flame.
Happy maging.

Bepo'slargebigguidecoveringallaspects
The wild is a dangerous place, filled with warriors, rangers, and mages, all with one goal. To kill you. When PKing, you must always keep in mind that all the other PKers are just out there to get your items. Be cautious when choosing your team mates for they can send you to your death, only interested in getting your items. Only team with people you can trust. Teams now play a big factor in the wild, as a new system emerged, and brought to us multi-combat zones. These are areas were multiple people can attack you at once, and can be recognized by the pair of swords in the bottom of the screen. Be careful when venturing into these parts, as without a team you will most likely never return… with your items at least. Teams play a critical part in PKing. The new system also allowed for a long awaited idea: running. Running can be used to escape from an opponent, but be aware that those in pursuit of you can not only run, but will attack your whilst you flee.

As you venture farther into the wild, you will encounter many enemies, each with their own deadly specialty. The three classes are a warrior, mager, and ranger. Warriors specialize in the fighting skill, and usually pack a high level strength, with equally deadly attack and defense. The magers are those who practice the magic skill. They are the once who you will come to fear the most. With their lethal blast of magic, they can hit up to 30’s, at a relatively low level. They wear robes and are easy targets, but fighters beware. Your amour will become a magnet to all mage attacks, and unless you have a lot of food, you can expect to not escape the wild alive. The last, but certainly not last class is the rangers. The rangers have a very diverse arsenal, and have the luxury of different attack speeds. They are weak at the low levels, but at high levels, they can become a big threat. But the one advantage that sets most rangers apart from all others is their high defense against mage. On a one on one battle, the ranger will always emerge victorious, as long as he know what he is doing, for everything you do can effect the outcome of the battle.

Your stats are your biggest weapon. Choosing the right stats can affect your whole PKing career, but you must keep in mind that each class has it abilities.
The Warrior
Has high strength and relatively high attack and defense. They use brute force to bash their opponents. Good for anyone who likes to beat down on the inferior players.
Stats:
Low level: This character will hit relatively often, and his defense will be a good asset.
20 Attack
10 Defense
30 Strength
Mid Level: This character will also hit more often, but will hit a lot higher and often on his foes. Good for anyone seeking a glimpse of rune in their kills.
50 Attack
30 Defense
55 Strength
High Level: These stats should be a goal for all looking to make a great PKer, and can be guaranteed to be a great source of rune.
75 attack
60 Defense
85 Strength
EXTRA high level :
85 Attack
70 Defense
95 Strength
Best stats in game
The Mager
The mage specializes in trapping his prey and holding on to it. When PKing, a mage will use bind, snare, and entangle to hold his enemy tight, while he blasts away at them. Very deadly character, but is hard to operate. Make a note that training mage will give you hp exp ONLY if you deal damage to an npc. The hp exp you get is 4/3 of the damage dealt. Only go for this if you don’t mind occasionally dying
Stats:
Low Level: This mage will kill all enemies who oppose him, but will have little income
1 Attack
1 Defense
1 Strength
20 magic
Mid Level: This PKer will kill anyone who dares face him in battle, and will generate a lot more income.
1 Attack
1 Defense
1 Strength
59 magic
High Level: This is were P2P comes into the picture. A mage with these stats won’t quite be the top of his level, but on members he can reclaim that title. Members bring more benefits as longer hold spells, iban blast, the wave attacks, an the all-famous god spells
1 Attack
1+ Defense
1 Strength
80+ magic
The Ranger
Range was originally a skill designed to help team mates, but with the new system it brings a whole new look at things. Rangers have a lot of weapons and armour to choose from, and it can make the difference between a kill and a lost kill. There are 6 range weapons. Arrows, bolts, throwing knives, darts, throwing axes, and javelins. Only arrows and bolts are F2P. There are also bows, crossbows and dragon and range armour. F2P gets all arrows up to steel, and bows up to Oak. They also get the regular crossbow, bolts, and all range armour up to green dragon hide. Range on F2P is ok, but not great mainly due to the low equipment. On members it servers a much b better purpose. Rune arrows and a range pot with a magic short bow can hit two times for each hit a mage gets, with equal damage. Dragon hide armour also adds mage dense that makes you almost invincible against mages. P2P PKing is recommended for all rangers.
Stats:
Low level: Good if you know how to use it, but with all the mages hitting so high it's hard to get pks as armour provides minimal protection.
1 Attack
20 Defense
1Strength
30-40 Range
Mid Level: These rangers are ok, but not great for their level. They can hold their own against a mage, and PK a fair bit.
1 Attack
40 Defense
1 Strength
50 range
High Level: Ultimate ranger, and can be a fatal adversary if not take seriously. This ranger will PK with full black, magic short bow, rune arrows and a range pot. Unstoppable if used right.
1 Attack
60 Defense
1 Strength
70+ range
The Other Side of Things
Many people will have one class, but might be able to take on any enemy. These characters are known as impures. Impures specialized in all stats, and are well rounded. They usually bring equipment for any foe, and are the best type of character for the wild. Take a mages stats for example. He could be 1-40-1 with 60 mage, or he could be 45-40-45 with 60 mage AND 60 range. This character would be able to fight well, mage well, and would be a great ranger. Being able to do all this is a huge advantage over your enemy, and you can change to fit the situation.
Stats:
Low Level: Not recommended, mainly because the whole time you will just be maging.
20 Attack
20 Defense
20 Strength
27 Magic
27 Range
Mid Level: This is where things get interesting. At this level almost everybody PKs in full rune, and as long as you know what you’re doing, you will be a whole lot richer
45 Attack
40 Defense
45 Strength
60 Magic
60 Range
High Level: Most high level PKers are impure, with similar stats as these. It is the most profitable.
75 Attack
70 Defense
80 Strength
80 Magic
80 Range
*Note* This character can get any level range or magic and it won’t affect his combat level.
Prayer
Prayer can be an extremely helpful asset when PKing. It provides extra protection, saves your items, and can even heal you faster. Prayer is essential at the higher levels, but at the lower levels it is not needed. Prayer can be used in one of 7 ways. Mix and match them to get the best combination for you, but be aware that the more you use at once, the less time you have.
Protect items (Level 25) Keep your most valuable item when you die
Steel Skin (Level 2 Useful for when you’re on the run.
Ultimate Strength (Level 31) Good for getting in that extra high hit.
Incredible Reflexes (Level 34) When it’s a close fight flip this on to hit more often.
Protect From Magic (Level 37) Best use of prayer, halves magic exp done to you.
Protect From Missiles (Level 40) Good for mages fighting rangers. Halves range damage done.
Protect From Melee (Level 43) Good for any PKer, halves fighting damage done.
*Note* Using the low level prayers works for low level – mid level PKers
As you can see, prayer is a very valuable thing to have. I recommend at least 37 prayer for high levels, over 43 gives the most help though. For lower levels prayer is a advantage, not a disadvantage, so it’s always good to have.

With such a big arsenal of weapons RS has to offer, how do you choose? There are four things you need to decide on when choosing a weapon. Attack speed, slash damage, crush damage and stab damage. Attack speed is how fast the weapon swings. Slash damage, crush damage and stab damage all affect how much damage you hit, depending in what fighting style you use. It is best to use the fighting style that your weapon best fits. The following weapon table is taken from the RS guide on runescape.com.

Jagex wrote:
Dagger
The fastest of all the weapons. A player with a dagger can attack just over twice as fast as a player with a 2 handed weapon. A daggers principal attack is stabbing though it can be used as a slashing weapon.
Daggers are also useful because they can be used to poison an opponent (members only). The combination of fast attacks and poison make the dagger an ideal starting weapon in a fight against a ranger or a mage. Even if they run, you can get the odd hit in, hopefully poisoning them before you change to your primary weapon.
Short Sword
A fast stabbing weapon. Though not as fast as the dagger it does carry significantly more damage. Can also be used as a slashing weapon. A short sword is a good all-round weapon and is not too expensive.
Scimitar
The scimitar is a slash only weapon. Not as flexible as the short sword, yet deals slightly more damage. Slashing weapons are good against cloth and leather armour.
Mace
Maces are primarily crushing weapons. Faster than the Warhammer and more flexible, RuneScape maces have little pointy studs to stab with. Crushing is particularly useful against plated opponents. Maces are also the preferred weapon of the priest as they carry a prayer bonus.
The mace also has a "controlled" fighting option which allows you to spread your experience points between the four combat stats.
Long Sword
The warriors friend. The longsword is excellent when stabbing or slashing through opponents, carries a good amount of damage, and is faster than the 2-hander, battle axe or Warhammer. Like the mace, the longsword has a "controlled" fighting option.
Axe
The axe is best used in woodcutting, but makes a competent weapon if nothing else is handy.
Pickaxe
A pickaxe is best used in mining, but can be effective if nothing else is to hand.
Spear (Members only)
The spear is the most flexible of all the weapons in RuneScape, although it sacrifices speed and power because of this.
It is the only weapon that can stab, crush or slash effectively, and can also be used to poison your opponent. The spear also features the "controlled" fighting option.
Battle Axe
Faster than the 2-handed sword, yet not quite as much damage. Another useful wilderness weapon as it does very effective damage in Slashing and Crushing modes, which will get through any player armour.
Warhammer
The Warhammer is basically a big lump of metal on the end of a pole. Not a subtle weapon - it is basically used to smash through your opponents. Slightly faster than the 2-handed sword, and can be used in conjunction with a shield. Perfect for fights against plated warriors.
2 Handed Sword
The mighty 2-handed sword packs an incredible punch, but is the slowest of all the weapons, and cannot be used with a shield. The damage it deals is considerably higher than any other weapon made of the same material. Although it cannot be used to stab, very few pieces of armour can stand up to its mighty power.
Armour
Armour is a crucial part of PKing, and without it even the strongest won’t survive long. It is wise to wear the best armour you can, as it will give you the most protection. Taken from the RS guide at runescape.com:
Jagex wrote:
Helmets
Full helmets offer better protection than medium helmets, but casting magic or using a ranged weapon is more difficult when using a full helmet, purely because the characters vision is obstructed.
Mage and priest Robes
Mage robes offer no extra defence against ranged or melee combat, but do give an advantage to casting and defending against magic.
Priest robes are exactly the same, but give a bonus to your prayer points rather than magic.
Leather and Dragonhide
Leather tends to be weak armour, but can now be improved by studding the leather or hardening it. Leather is more resistant to crushing attacks and weaker against stabbing attacks, but its flexibility makes it ideal for use by rangers.
The same applies for Dragonhide armour, although it is much stronger than basic leather. Due to the magic nature of dragons, it is very useful when defending against spells and magical effects. However, this tends to interfere with the wearers ability to cast magic.
Chainmail
Chainmail is made up of small rings connected together. It is particularly useful for turning away slashing weapons and absorbing the impact of a "crushing" attack. Chain is weak against stabbing weapons as small pointy blades can get through the rings. Chain is quite flexible, and so does not carry any disadvantages when using ranged weapons. Mages will tend to find the armour gets in the way slightly of some of the finer spell casting techniques.
Plate
Plate armour is much heavier and stronger than chain, although rangers and mages find it incredibly difficult to use in conjunction with firing arrows or spells.
Plate armour is weakest against crushing damage as it cannot absorb the impact as well as it can against slashing or stabbing attacks.
Shields
The two shield types are very similar, but have slight differences. Both are excellent defences against slashing attacks, but the kite shield is weak against stabbing attacks and the square shield is weak against crushing attacks. Using a shield while casting magic or ranging is very difficult as it obstructs the movement of the user.
What To Use
Now that you know about the kinds of armour and weapons, you can start to think about what to wear. To start off, wear the best armour you can (wear rune if your 40 defense). You must consider though, what kind of helmet, body, and shield you want to wear. I recommend a large, plate body, legs, and kite shield, because it provides the most protection against slash and crush, the most used attack styles. For weapons it is wise to you a scimitar on free, mainly because of its fast attack speed. On members there are a couple of options. You could use the dragon axe, a powerful weapon, capable of hitting very high numbers. You could use a dragon long, good at slashing and has good stab (for fighting those using chain). Or you could use the poisoned dragon dagger. This is a unique weapon, because it poisons the enemy, and unless he has a potion, he will repeatedly be dealt damage from the poison in addition to your attack damage. The dagger also had high attack speed and stab.
Rangers and Mages
For rangers, it is best to use the best range armour available, and a coif. Mages should use a wizard hat, wizard robes, and a blue bottom just to match it Members should do the same except wear a zamarok bottom, because it adds to the mage equipment. Mages tend to wear a dragon fire shield because it doesn’t subtract from magic attack, and its adds some defense (good for pking in members because of green dragons and red dragons)

While out pking you will learn were the people usually are, and how to use the terrain to your advantage. It is a good idea to learn the multi combat zones for when you pk alone.
Rune Rocks- A favorite spot for all pkers. What better than pking full rune? Pking rune ores that equal 2 sets of full rune High level wild north west of the lava maze.Multi-Combat
Castle- Most populated on free servers. Many people here, but because of the low level wild it is hard to get kills here. Level 11-15 wild, north of monks guild. Multi-Combat
Greaters- Many brave warriors venture deep into the wild to slay these beasts, in seek of their rune larges. Killing anyone here is a good idea because they can drop valuables such as an extra rune large or a ring of wealth. North of poison spider field, high level wild.
Green Dragons- These monsters hit hard with their breath, so always bring a dragon fire shield. Many warriors fight them for their valuable dragon hides. You can also use it as a trap (chase them in if they don’t have a shield.) West of moss giants, level 35+ wild.

Jagex now introduced special attacks, and when used right, can create deadly combinations. To start off, here's all the special attacks available:
Dragon dagger- Hits your opponent twice, and can be used 4 times from a full charge. In addition it poisons them.
Dragon longsword- Hits 5 damage more then your normal hit, however is very inacurate (will hit low numbers) 4 total from a full special bar
Dragon mace- Same as sword, except I believe that it hits 10 more damage then normal, and with its high crush can be very effective.
Dragon battle axe- Rasises your strength level by the same as a super strength pot + 1. Uses a full bar of special, so is not recomended for pking but for training. Be sure to bring restore stat pots because it will drain your attack and defense.
Dragon spear- Stuns your opponent tepmorarily, not recomended for pking purposes.
Magic shortbow- Shoots 2 arrows instead of 1, but they have decreased acuracy. 2 specials from a full bar.
Magic longbow- Hits more damage and is more acurate then normal. 2 specials from a full bar.
Rune throwing axes- These are great if you know what to do. They will act like a boomarang when you throw them, and will hit all targets around you if in multi, or just your one if your not. For every person it hits it uses 1 bar of special (if there's 5 people teaming you it would use 5 bars but hit everyone) This attack can never hit 0's.
Now that you know all the special attacks, you need to learn how to use them to your best advantage.
Warriors - It is probly best to use the dagger special attack because when you use it, you hit your enemy 2 times, and it can be used 4 times total. Dragon long special can be good if your opponent is running on low health, and you have 1 shot at hitting him and you need to hit high, but the dagger might still end up hitting more. Use your special 1-2 times when you start a fight, so it will regenerate by the time one of you runs, and you can then use it again to get 8 quick shots in at your opponent in under 10 seconds.
Ranger- All rangers in p2p will pk with a magic bow, but it might not be the most efective use of your special attacks. For this reason it is wise to bring along a poisoned dragon dagger, and use the special one your opponent starts to run, because mainly they're low on food. 2-3 hit potential is very high.
Mages- I would sugest the same as rangers because mages have no special attacks.

When out in the wild you always want to have an advantage over your enemy, so here is a few tricks to get ahead
First Hit- Seems obvious, but it really matters, especial when taking on mages. You get two hit in before they can auto retaliate.
Poison- Always a good idea to poison your weapons and projectiles, self explanatory
Wearing Dragon hide- The majority of pkers are mages, so it’s a good idea to pk with dragon hide armor ready for when mages jump you. Black gives just a bit less then defense then rune, and is a good outfit for mining rune.
Bind, snare, entangle- In addition to being offensive, these can be used as defensive spells. Cast one of these to make a quick get-away while your opponent helplessly stands there.
When on the Run- Know were highly concentrated areas of monsters are. When being chased simply run through a area of monsters and chances are your opponent will loose you.
Potions- Use them, or you won’t have a chance in the wild Good to always carry a few prayer potions
Conserving Prayer- When on f2p you have to rely solely on our own prayer points because of the lack of prayer pots. I suggest you save these for mages, or use for ultimate strength.

P2PPkerguide by Iranian
OK, so you want the ultimate pker in members? You want to fly to fame and fortune in 5 days? Sorry, this will take more than 5 days, but I believe its well worth the wait.
1) First off, make a new account with a nice name. Make it something inoffensive (to not get banned), and one that you will not look back at and wince at . Now, for the first part, you will not need p2p. Just train him simply to 60 attack, and 40 strength. Then go members, and do the Lost City quest for a dragon long to train with(edit*use a friend to stand inbetween you and the boss and mage him with minds... It might take a while, but it means an easy kill. *)(edit2*also can take stuff to construct ranging gear, or your friend can do it for you; then make the bow and arrows and shoot away.*). Now, train strength up to the point where you want to stop. Usually this point is 80 strength. A great place to train at is the skeletons, or the guards. Edit* Rock crabs and experiments(do the frankenstein quest for experiments;)) are ownage experience also* Some food might necessary at the beginning when you can't successfully finish them off quickly. Then, get your 70 attack, and your initial training is done... Now, time to train your ranged. I recommend the barbarian village, because it has obstacles, but you can collect the arrows easily. Bronze arrows should do, and also remember to be on rapid at all times, and to have the best set of ranged armor on also. It should go leather at level 1, studded at 20(no chest).
2) You thought it was done, eh? Unfortunately, this is only the tip of the iceberg... You might see an account with 72 HP, 67 combat, but I see a barely sufficient pure that will get eaten alive in the members wilderness. Now is time to go into member's... There are two routes you can go, and they are mildly different... I will cover my favorite first, then the other one second.
3A) Now, it is time to get some magic levels. Your target is 55 magic, and I have a cheap way to do it . First, achieve 19 magic by air striking the lesser demon caged in the wizard tower... Get a set of full iron on, put on an earth staff, green vambraces, and an amulet of protection... Get about 6,000 body runes and 12,000 water runes. Curse the caged zamarock mage in varrock castle for 6 hours straight and you will achieve 55 magic. Now it is time to make some money . Buy yew longbows 450 per, up to 10,000. Then buy natures 300 each (price has gone down since the abyss update). Now, after alching 10,000 bows, you should have gotten 130k. Do it 4 more times, and you will get 85 magic with no HP experience, and an actual profit .
3B) This method starts off the same, with body runes to get to 55 magic. But now you will be buying immense amounts of chaos runes, air runes, and earth runes, and get 55 slayer (look below, may get slayer through ranged). Then get the slayer staff, and the (approximately 120k earth, air, and 60k chaos). Now this method is more costly, but as a bonus, your pure will have around 80 HP at level 72. Nifty eh?
4) Now it's time to spend that 650k on something…arrows! Another option is cannon. But around 80,000 cannonballs would be necessary. If you wished to get no HP experience, therefore stay down a combat level, you could do that, but you would need to do a lot of money-making. Anyways, those extra 5 HP levels come in handy . For ranged training, get a shortbow, and all 4 color sets without the chest, along with 20,000(15-20 each) bronze arrows. For you people who want to have lots of fun, do slayer at the edgeville slayer master, and range the tasks dead (most tasks are rangeable . Or, risk it and go to the green dragons… You need those dragon bones anyways, because… You will need 31 prayer for this account. Also, killing those dragons gets a nifty paycheck, because after a full inventory of dragon bones, you can bank and get around 75k for 25, meaning more arrows .
5) OK, now let’s stop at 80 ranged, because that is sufficient for pking (you can go higher, no problem ) Now it’s time to do some quests… Horror from the Deep is one that pops up in my mind… Also do the Troll Stronghold for the climbing boots. And doing mage arena wouldn’t hurt, because a charged God spell can still hit for a very high number. Oh, just remembered, do the Underground Pass, or Family Crest for either of the guantlets... Crest is better for getting back if you die. Now, there is an optional thing I am leaving up to the pker… Raising agility to 50 will greatly help the pking, because you can recharge that precious energy faster. With 1 agility, pking is not fun(try it on an f2p pure).
OK, so this is your pure now:
Att: 70
Def: 1
Str: 80
HP: depends
Mage: 85
Range: 80
Prayer: 31
Combat: 70-72, depending on HP
PKING!
Now it is time to test out this magnificent pker you have built . There are many styles to go out and pk with… (life ring, 100 rune arrows at all times, btw)
A) Below is the suit I advise you to wear while, and just to let you know, with an abyssal whip, this guy hits 29 max potted and praying.
Your inventory should include 2 prayer potions, a super attack and super strength potion, magic shortbow, 30 teleblocks, and if you wish to teleport, just bring 5 air runes… Fill the rest with sharks...(30 entangles optional, but recommended…)(ranging potion may be brought if you love to switch over a lot.
Pking should be centered at a highly populated world by the castle green dragons; other worlds are also good to find soloers without teams to save them. When you there, stay far away from them, and avoid any 3 hits or something… Spot someone to kill(go after the solo people most), like a mage, pot up,turn on prayer(protect, super str and att), and initiate the fight by teleblocking him (make sure it works!). Then whack some 20s on the guy, and if they pray, turn over for a quick ACCURATE shortbow special… Going on rapid risks hitting controlled on the whip, meaning defense experience. Then, keep at it, and watch out for your prayer. Keep recharging it with a dose of your potion, and if you are going to die, make sure your prayer is on! That abyssal whip is very valuable, so don’t lose it…
OR
B) This is another style to pk with…inventory should include 120 bloods, 600 fires, 300 airs, 80 natures, 100 water/earth, 25 teleblocks, mage bow, antipoison, and rest sharks (I wouldn’t recommend bringing a whip, because triple hybrids don’t work out too well for some reason, which might be low food ). If you plan to be wandering around the green dragons instead of going for pkers, anti-dragon shield is recommended.
Your best bet as a mage/ranger hybrid is going for those confident melee pkers with full rune, d long, and maybe a granite maul hidden underneath… You must be careful while eating, and make sure you are at a good amount of health at all times. This pure is much more of a world swapper, because you want a world without rangers… Now when you see that meleeer training, or hanging around, check him out. Make sure you aren’t after a 3 itemer, with addy large as a helmet… Check for that lovely glory amulet upon his neck, and for their boots. Many people bring rune boots casually, and think that only other people get teleblocked… Well, once you find your man, or woman, to get, put your stance on aggressive, TB, Tangle, Charge, and hit them (staff doesn’t matter) with your Godly blasts. Make sure he is TBed by trying it again… Then, keep blasting until he prays, at which instance you take out the bow and range him silly… Ranging potion helps a lot btw.
Helpful Pointers:
-Staking is also available to this pure, with no armour of course, because of the whip and high strength.
-Don’t teleport unless it’s absolutely necessary(such as your prayer runs out and you forgot potions)
-Pray always, because that whip is very valuable.
-If there are many people around you after a kill, take an inventory picture, not a pile, because you can get pjed fast. Get your stuff, eat, and get out of there.
-Don’t use SS… All the hard work would be wasted if you got banned.
-Skip the mage arena unless you are willing to lose some items in the process of pking.
- If you go up an attack level, don’t worry. Just keep pking on accurate with that whip.
- Don’t account share… Find a way for the account to be independent, such as merchanting.
- Do priest in peril quests, and it's sequels, prequels, etc., for fre prayer experience .
-Have fun .
