1. Introduction

This thread is mostly about creating and maintaining maps of any areas in RuneScape, that you cannot see on RuneScape's official world map. This mainly includes numerous caves and dungeons, but also some islands, and various important buildings with many floors.

There is also an additional list of mining maps, which show what kind of ores you can mine in various mining areas.

2. Required Map Rules
Your map must obey these rules in order to qualify for uploading to RuneVillage web site.
  • All maps must be 100% completed.
  • All maps must face north.
  • Entrances and exits must be written in lightgrey/darkwhite, not antialiased, Western Verdana with a fontsize of 8 pixels (color code #B9B9B9 [185,185,185]).
  • Monster names start with a capital letter.
  • The monster name must be written in bold white anti-aliased Western Verdana text with a font height of 8 pixels.
  • The monster level is written between hooks; example: Greater demon (92), if there is more then one, you will write Greater demons (92) (same goes for other monsters of course).
  • Mapped by text is also in bold, white, anti-aliased Western Verdana text with a font height of 8 pixels, same goes for side notes.
  • Side notes must be as short as possible.
  • The map title is written in bold, white, anti-aliased, Western Verdana text with a font height of 14 pixels.
  • All maps can only be used for RuneVillage and/or private use and wear RuneVillage compass.
  • All maps must have all the monsters on it.
  • Items cannot be included on these maps, if you wish to do so make a dungeon guide (for example, see Crandor Island special report and Draynor Sewers guide).
  • On some smaller maps if you have a room with 2 or more different monsters, use one dot for both to save space (for example, look at the skeletons and bats on Karamja Volcano dungeon map).
  • Only place one dot per room, do not place a dot per monster this makes the whole area messy.
  • Post a thumbnail.
Specifying font size / height can vary from program to program. So to have the consistent font size for RuneVillage maps, write capital letter X with the required font, zoom in, and count its height in pixels. Try to match this height with numbers given above.

3. Recommended Map Rules
  • Create maps on 20% of their normal brightness.
  • You can choose the icons of things (monsters, traps, veins etc..) on your map, but I highly recommend that you use this icon, of course you can choose the color of it.
  • You can also use other icons like the ones in Smokey Well.

4. Master Map List

This list contains an alphabetical list of caves, dungeon, islands and important buildings in Runescape and it's mapped status. Should you know a cave/dungeon that is not on the list please leave a message on the topic.

Every map name is written in color:
Blue - the map is finished, according to RV map rules, but not used in any uploaded guide on RuneVillage site yet. When writing a guide, feel free to use one of these maps. Give credit to the mapper of course.
Red - this needs to be mapped, if you like to help, go ahead and make it.
Yellow - current map requires some editing, or updating, read comments for info.
Green - this map is uploaded, and the comment also says which guide(s) it is used in.

There's also a list of comments with each map, with all kinds of useful info, like how to reach the area, which guide(s) the map is used in, and so on.

There are currently 128 places listed, with 9 still not mapped.

Abandoned Mine - OK
- South-west of Mort'ton, the setting for the Haunted Mine quest.
- One of the best places to mine addy and mithril ores, with superheat option, because of shortcut access to Burgh de Rott bank.

- This lair is introduced during Summer's End quest, and is located in Wilderness, north of Graveyard of Shadows, and Ruins.
- Home to highest level monster so far: Corporeal Beast, level 785.
- Quickest way is using Games Necklace to teleport to Clan Wars, although teleport to Bounty Hunter might be better, because of the bank there.

5. Mining Map Rules
  • All maps must be 100% completed.
  • Rock names start with a capital letter.
  • On the legend you do a (X) for the amount of that rock that there is. For example, if there is four iron rocks you write Iron (4).
  • The legend(key) is written in bold white western verdana text with a fontsize of 10.
  • Entrances and exits must be written in lightgrey/darkwhite western verdana with a fontsize of 8 (color code: B9B9B9).
  • The map title is written in bold white western verdana text with a fontsize of 14.
  • Mapped by text is also in bold white western verdana text with a fontsize of 10,same goes for side notes.
  • Side notes must be as short as possible.
  • All maps must face north.
  • All maps must have the nearest bank on them. This must be located under the map title.
  • Your maps must not have monsters on them.
  • Maps must not have items on them.
  • All maps must have the mineable rocks indicated by icons.
  • All maps can only be used for rv and/or private use and wear this icon.

6. Mining Map Recommendations
  • Create maps on 20% of their normal brightness.
  • You can choose the icons of things (Rocks etc.) on your map, but I recommend that you use this icon, of course you can choose the color of it. You actually might want to use a smaller icon due to space.

Glad to see something was actually done.

2 things:

1. I think some of those maps were posted on the Fuzzy Bunny...
2. Where is the Fuzzy Bunny...? :?

Good job though Damen. Now that it's actually updated, I see some that i can do.

ps. I too, like Brainheart, have thought about suggesting an expansion to mapping. There are many places in Runescape with multiple floors and places that aren't visible on the world maps.

Perhaps we should find and map those too.

Hehe, Damen has no clue of it yet. He requested to takeover the map thing because Svs is apparently absend from mapping and refused to updated the sticky when he was asked.

So I went ahead and created a new sticky with one of Damens posts. I checked every page of the old topic before getting rid of it and copied every map over to this sticky.

- Also just added the caves Brainheart summed up.

And yes, why not simply change it into a 'maps' sticky. Changed the topic title to "Runescape Maps"

Hey guys!

I didn't really expect this to happen this soon so it was a nice suprise :) I plan to make a couple small changes (I'de be doing more but lord Thief did a LOT! Thanks man.) but I'm jsut gunna give it a few days to get used to the post. But I certainly plan to keep this up to date, so hopefully mapping can flourish once more :)

Done, I also got a couple of other updates in there as well :)

*Edited Ape atoll Temple Dungeon & addded.
*Fixed Ah-Za-Rhoon Temple
*made it so that it says barrows catacombs need fixing, if anyone wnats to do this or any of the other that need fixing go ahead :)

I won't be mapping myself for a couple of days due to a huge amount of homework that is starting to stack up, and some other duties that I have decided to take on in the Village (or atleast to attempt to :P) . Though I will of course keep this updated, once someone gives me something to update :roll: serisouly guys break out the mapping gear! I'de love to see this entire list finished!

Actually Ape-Atoll Temple Dungeon is currently twice in the list, as I named it Marim Temple Dungeon in the original list. They are the same thing. Marim is the name of the ape city, so that name sounded appropriate. Is the left edge of the map incomplete, or is it really cut off ingame like that?

Observatory Dungeon map existed, by svstoned, in old sticky. I kept a copy of map list in private message, so here it is:

Then, I am quite certain Mageman mapped Fenkenstrains dungeon and posted it in old sticky. It was otherwise perfect, except for some small font-related snag, so svstoned didn't add it to the list. I don't have the link available though, for some reason :(

One more things to say... noticed a small miss in your (otherwise perfect :)) Underground pass map, you haven't marked the exit to Death Altar, which is in dwarven camp there.

Heads-up to would-be mappers, I'm attempting to map Abandoned Mine next. Unless you're still mapping it Damen? I thought you said something about dropping that in old thread.

The new Fishing Colony map is needed. I remember Kmjhawk making one but it doesn't quite fit these requirements here.

We also need the Pest Control Islands: their base and the actual minigame.

One more things guys, I have marked a handful of maps as "under review" WELL it turns out that LT didn't do as good a job as I had thought. (though ti was still a rather well done one :P) but anyways don't map those ones. Because frankly they've already been mapped :roll:

Well a large part of the maps under review are those that Hiker is suppose to have. They were however never posted in the sticky, hence they are marked to be mapped because we have been waiting for Hiker's guide stash for 2 years now..

The only map left on the sticky the rest isn't there: The frenkenstrain map

I guess you can add Braindeath Islands again, it's an updated version from the one in Rum Deal guide. :)
