A lot of people have been complaining about the Hunting skill and how similar it will be to Slayer, or it sounds lame, or it'll be crap etc etc. (I'm not just talking about RV).

Well anyway, to cut to the chase, I figured Jagex could do a lot worse

This is a thread for fun, come up with your own 'new skills' and what you do in them.

Note: now that Hunter is out we don't have to stop the fun! I encourage you to read skills created (list at the bottom of the post) and to create new ones! Have fun!


Here is mine to start off with:

Skill: Grasspicking!

Always wanted to get rid of that tile of grass? Felt like Farming was missing charm because you used a rake instead of your good old hands? Want the legendary daisies? Grasspicking allows you to do all those things!


Abilities

Level - Ability (xp given)

1 - Pick short grass (10 xp)


20 - Pick long grass (50 xp)


30 - Pick lemon grass* (100xp)


40 - Pick jungle grass (150 xp)


50 - Pick mountain grass (300 xp)


65 - Pick swamp grass (500 xp)


80 - Pick sea grass** (750 xp)


99 - Pick daisies! (1,000 xp)


* This can be used together with the Stew of DOOM! to get new flavours resulting in a chance of -5 to +5 grasspicking!!
** Requires completion of the Pirate Pete sub-quest from Recipe for Disaster.


Uses for Grass

- Smoking! No no no, don't get any ideas, I mean actually smoking over some smouldering coals to toughen it up. Once smoked, you can sell it to Hunters for them to create more easily-cammoflauged traps.
- Mulch. Farmers can use grass on their plots to increase both the harvest and shorten the growing time of their crops. The better the grass used as mulch, the better the rewards.
- Crafting. New abilities include making rope, and new tribal outfits using grass to make Hula Skirts and coconut shells to make coconut bras! (Requires 30 crafting for rope and 75 crafting for tribal-wear).


Random Events

– A goat shows up and eats the grass whereever you try to pick it until you kill the Goat. Of course there are different combat levels just like other random events. They drop bones, meat and horns. Very rarely they will drop a golden fleece with which you can craft into a cape that increases the rate you heal by a factor of 3. The chance of golden fleece increases when picking mountain grass!
- A man with a Scythe appears and starts hacking the grass. Of course with a Scythe he can cut it much faster than you can pick it so you have to kill him before you can pick any more of your precious grass.
- A man shows up, with long hair and a beard. He pokes you in the ribs to get your attention. He asks stupid and inane questions that you need to answer before he will leave you alone.
Questions include
- “Hey man, your pretty good at that. Can I have some?”
- “Wow, your working hard, that’s making me hungry. Got any munchies?”
- “Hey, ummm, your not a constable are you? No? No reason, just asking. Say, I know someone who buys that stuff. Not me of course, it’s umm, a friend of mine. You know, for crafting and stuff. You interested in selling some?”
- "Woahhhhh, dude - did you see that dragon? How could you miss him, the purple one right behind you! Just wait a second, he’s hiding behind that dancing mushroom.”
