i agree with you completely
but will this affect the village in any way like you get banned faster or something like stricter mods or you get a lot of warnings for flaming now cause if not this isnt going to help

a speech is certainly not going to stop the spammers because they know that spamming and flaming(well i mean real flaming not like: "that are low stats" but like : "OMG NOOB YOU ARE SO STUPID" ) is not allowed and will not stop because of this

Agreed, great speech Hiker. I will try my best alongside my friends and moderation crew to make things better once again, restoring the village to what it once was, and hopefully, will remain.

Great sppech Hiker. The Village HAS changed quite alot since I first joined.
There wasnt much fighting, flaming, spamming but now alot of flaming and spamming is going around. Glad to hear that it wont be tolerated and the rule will be greatly enforced

every now & then someone has to restate what this Village is about. It has been a while coming but it has been said.

What concerns me is that in many of the subsequent posts the focus seems to be on the mods to 'to do their job properly'. I agree they should and leading by example is a fine ideal. But I also think the focus should shift to people not giving the mods reason to get too heavy. Make their job easier by not behaving like an idiot & it benefits everyone

It would be madness if one wouldn't agree. Though I wasn't around in the early days of runevillage, a nice community without flaming and spamming would be heaven :)

Hiker, I am so happy we are starting to do this. The forums have turned into the Runescape forums, and everyone knows that Runescape forums is a spamming flameing contest. I will also do my best to report any flameing or mean posts to you, henner, or/and any of the other admins. When i joined the villager there were about 10000 people joined and the most people on the forum were about 50-70 max and everyone respected each other. thank you hiker and the admin staff... and good luck admins, moderator, and the staff all together! :D

Thanks,
-Frogger-

Well said Hiker. Cant wait to see the affect of this.

Im glad something like this has happened. I have noticed more people flaming/spamming than when I first started just a year ago.

Just wondering, will the amount of warnings that you need to be banned decrease - I think that would be a good enough insentive to be respectful.

I come here often usually at least 1 or more times a day, and no matter where i look theres spaming and flaming here, spaming and flaming there. I think that this proves a very good point and it would be great to get rid of it all and all become close friends and kno everyone ... i would like to say that hiker, u stated that as best as it could have been and i really do hope that the village will return to like it used to be, i may not have been here for the old village, but id still like to see it on a day to day basis tho

Even though I wasn't here when RuneVillage just started up, I can imagine how nice it used to be. But recently we have had people flame/spam/post **** pics up the wazoo. I'm all for banning it down to 500-2000 or so people, as long as I'm in that group ;)

I too, think that the rules should be more enforced. Sometimes I see a little "Bumpity wumpity" on a post that no one seems to buy from. Annoys me very much, and I wish we can get this cleaned up. SAY NO TO SPAM.
