Just an idea.

There are many people who like debating politics, but at the same time many people are not interested at all.

Perhaps the debate forum could have a sub- forum called the 'political mudpit', or something like that?

Discuss.

I think it'd be great if we had more politics created topics, but right now most politics topics fit neatly into the debate forum.

There's no real need for a new forum for political topics. The debate forum and general chat forum work very nicely.

As much as a good idea this is, I think Tweedy and Snake are right, the other forums have a place for it.

The talk of politics usually leads to debate. Debate forum covers it quite nicely.

Politcal topics just don't look right in General chat or the debate forum.

Not everyone here is interested in international politics. It could be a forum within the debate forum, so it doesnt cause any clutter.

It could even be a usergroup.

... How?

Those two forums are both welcoming to topics like that.

I'm going to say "no" on a usergroup/forum for Politics.

I remember back when the Debate Forum was created--one reason seemed to be because all of the political topics in General Chat that were only turning into debates. I think they still seem to fit there. Even if they don't "seem to belong", that's kind of like saying Mafia games don't seem to belong in the Roleplay Forum. They're still there, and people can watch and post in them whether they're distinctly a Roleplayer or not. Same goes for Politics topics; they can exist fine in the Debate Forum even if you don't wish to debate, or perhaps otherwise don't enjoy the rest of the forum. :)

I was going to post something like this, but I couldn't find the right comparisons, good job.

it's not yet reached the critical mass like when, say, Gen Pix got swamped with videos and we split it into Gen Pix and Gen Vids. It could get there, but I think we're good for now.

He makes a good point, I never would've stated playing Mafia if I hadn't been able to watch a few games first. Just like some people may have very strong political opinions but not wanting to make a topic on them. So putting that discussion out of sight where you have to be a member to see may discourage them from joining in.

I could see this if the entire first page of the debate forum was filled with new political topics every day but we are no where near that active right now. They fit well in the debate forum as is.

If it's a debate I don't see how it doesn't fit well. If you don't wanna debate about politics, create a thread or pick one that's not political. It's that simple.
