What do you guys think? Remember this is the highest level donor icon, so it needs to look really good.

Make the dust brighter. And possibly the orbs, too.

Magic needs to glow.

Wizard Icon is slightly better than par. I accept this and would feel more inclined to donate for that specific icon in general.

By the way, someone (I think it was Dark Paladin) made a post a while ago (pre-rollback) saying that my icons might look better if they were a little bit sharper.

I don't usually like to sharpen images because just about every sharpen algorithm out there sucks and usually ends up ruining the image. Instead, I duplicated the layer to make the edges and colors look a little bit more defined.

Here's a comparison of the two (also I guess this addresses Kikori's post about making the magic dust and staff orbs brighter):

two problems with the magic dust is

1. it looks like a big old dust cloud no magic..

2. it encloses the image at the top looks too much like your making a border and not enough like magic is happening.. is it possible to have an animated one where it changes sparkles?

I guess yellow/gold is a more 'magical' color, but I can tell you now that the yellow would look horrible on the dark-green background. It would blend in too well and look like a nasty yellow-green dust.

Anyway cyan works too, doesn't it?

'fraid not. I saved all of these images as .png with alpha-transparency so that they can look good on any background. Animating it would mean using .gif because .png doesn't support animation (well, it does, but .apng doesn't have a lot of browser support), and .gif doesn't support alpha-transparency.

yea but im just saying that the color could be you know more magical and make it looks like dust is falling.. not just a cloud of dust sitting around..

would prefer if the cyan stars were more symmetrical... but other than that it looks good.
