Sorry, Top. I've actually got time to listen to albums at work now, so I'll bang these out.

Also: Hedberg was not cheating. We never stipulated "music only" :P

Also: The nonstop thrash is why I like IJFA!! :)

Also: I don't like Cedric's voice on Antemasque stuff either, but wow was he much better when I saw them live. They were incredible all together. (I was actually there to see Le Butcherettes open and was pleasantly surprised with Antemasque's set)

Also: Buckethead wrote that whole album for his mother, while she was in a coma.

Day 94
ELO - Out Of The Blue

I always thought the singles were decent, but not something I'd delve into.

Pros:
- Production for the electric stuff was really good.
- VOCODER
- I liked the strings and horns. I don't usually like horns, but man, there were times that I thought, "wow, that's a good horn riff."
- Could be a Homme vocal influence in parts.

Cons:
- Production for guitars was pretty weak.
- First 4 or so songs were kinda meh.

Highlight: “Big Wheels" I've always liked this song a lot.

I was, once again, surprised at how many songs I knew. Probably won't delve deeper, still. Also: a lot of bands have covered these songs, I realized.

Overall Score: 6/10

Day 95
Talking Heads - Remain In Light

Never liked New Wave. Haven't heard this album other than "Once In a Lifetime"

Pros:
- There was some funky guitar I enjoyed.
Cons:
- Vocals are def not my style.
- Crappy pre-fabbed electronic sounds, including drums.
- Bass guitar was trying too hard.
- Gay, 80's style. (Jay and Bob reference)

Highlight: -

Now I know why I've never listened to an 80s new wave album in full. I really disliked it.

Overall Score: 2/10

That whole third side of Out of the Blue, from "Standin' In The Rain" to "Mr. Blue Sky" is the "Concerto For A Rainy Day", definitely my favourite section from the album.

Shocked you disliked Remain In Light so much, it's THE 80s album for a lot of people.

I'm just....not a fan of 80's music. Never have been. Nine Inch Nails and Metallica are pretty much all I'll listen to from that era.

I never considered NIN to be of the 80s.

Pretty Hate Machine came out in '89 and it totally sounds like it...hahaha. Their heyday was definitely the 90's, though.

Good work guys, I'm ready for Top 100 Songs (in order)!

Spiro and I were talking about how trying to make a list of Top 100 Songs may be the hardest thing anyone's ever asked of us, ESPECIALLY doing them in order. You sound like you've already done it though. Curious to see your list. (Feel free to make it a new thread)

Day 96
St. Vincent - Strange Mercy

This chick again, eh? Lessee whazzup.

Pros:
- Really, really liked the guitar work on this. My kind of weird.
- I liked her voice for most of it.
- She writes really personal lyrics, which I dig. They allude to a story, but don't necessarily tell one.
- All the synth used was dope.

Cons:
- The first couple songs I didn't like really. The opener, especially was really Bjorky, vocally and abstract musically, in a bad way. Such a bad first impression. I thought I was in for a Bjork album.

Highlight: At the title track, the album switched to really good. I think I'll go with the title track as my highlight.

Overall, I liked it, despite it's initial songs. This chick is talented. I recently listened to a Song Exploder episode, and it was about one of her songs (I forget which. Wasn't on this album). It was neat to listen to her describe how one of her songs was made.

Overall Score: 7/10

Day 97
Queen of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf

I heard "No One Knows" on the radio and went to my local record store to buy the album and ended up getting Rated R instead, so although a song from SFTD was my first glimpse at QOTSA, this album wasn't my first. I love this album. Brings back great memories and is still great to listen to, although I haven't in a few months.

Pros:
- This album was the first that Queens made that felt like a cohesive thing. It plays out very well as an album.
- I love the radio bits scattered about.
- Grohl's drumming is just straight up beast mode, and my favorite on any Queens album.
- The guitar work is the most metal Queens ever got, and the album is heavy because of it.
- Revisiting "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" is great.
- "No One Know" is just so good. This song got me into them. I remembered thinking, "Those druummmssss", as I was a budding drummer at the time.
- "The Sky Is Fallin'" was my ringtone on my flip phone for a while. Heheheh
- The opening and closing of "A Song for the Dead" is just insane. Love seeing this one live.
- Natasha (RIP) bangin those keys in "Go With the Flow" is great. I'll use that tactic in a song one day.
- "God is in the Radio" has such a cool vibe. The guitar work is superb.

Cons:
- Production is pretty meh. Especially for drums. It's all so LOUD.

Highlight: This was so hard, but I'm going with "First It Giveth" (which I have as a single on vinyl, UK import). It's so uptempo and metal. Those drums on the chorus...baller.

Baller, I say.

Overall Score: 9/10

Day 98
Billy Talent - Billy Talent II

The internet says this is from Canada, eh?

Pros:
- Sort of a....System of a Down meets Rise Against feel, in a good way. Dudes voice sounds just like Darren from System.
- The guitar work was decent. I liked the clean guitar sounds.
- I found myself enjoying the middle of the album. Tracks 3-7, specifically.
- Decent pop format song writing.

Cons:
- Opening and closing track were strange. I thought it was going to be a poor man's Muse.
- Really just a big repeat after track 7. Lost me.

Highlight: idk...probably track 3. That's when I had the SOAD revelation.

I could see this album selling well. It wasn't bad. It was just way too long for a pop-rock album.

Overall Score: 5/10
