ELECTION MAFIA

- Instead of voting to lynch, players vote to elect a President (for the day).
- The election is only finalized when I have posted acknowledging it.
- The President will then publicly decide who to lynch with LYNCH: [PLAYER]
- The President may choose to NOLYNCH
- Days = 72 hours IRL (or until a lynch happens). Nights = 36 hours IRL (or until all night actions have been PM'd).
- An election occurs when votes to elect are >50% of remaining players.
- You may vote for ABSTAIN to end the day prematurely.
- You may vote for yourself.
- When a player is successfully elected, 12 hours are added to the day phase.
- The same player may not be elected President two days in a row.

RULES

- Roles are revealed upon a player’s death.
- Discussing the game outside of the game is strictly forbidden (unless your role says you can).
- Using evidence from outside of the game is strictly forbidden. This includes quoting private messages from the host, or showing a screenshot of any message. This also includes making bets, such as, “I bet you I’m innocent, or I’ll do something embarrassing”.
- Editing posts is strictly forbidden. Double, triple, quadruple post if necessary.
- All voting must be done in bold font, and no text should be in bold font besides votes. You don't have to unvote to vote for someone else.
- Posting on the topic after death is strictly forbidden. No ODP's. I've had a change of heart. You can get one ODP, just don't be stupid with it. (no including information that may affect the flow of the game)
- Helping remaining players after death is strictly forbidden.
- Collaborating with other dead players after death is strictly forbidden. Until after this game is over, treat talking about it outside as if you are still alive in the game (and not allowed to talk about it).
- Do not post on the topic during the night phase!
- You are expected to be active: failure to post during a day phase or submit your night action will result in immediate replacement, barring special circumstances, like an unusually short day phase.
- No power roles may self-target.
- The same member of the mafia may kill and perform other actions on the same night.

The game should begin somewhere around 3 PM EST on January 07, 2017. I will be sending out the role PMs just before this. I highly recommend using this time to familiarize yourself with the rules and roles of the game, as things may be different from how you're used to. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to PM me. Please do not post until I have made the Day 1 Start Post!

It is Election Season in the Village, and tensions are high.

High profile candidates are winding up dead left and right. And I know just who's behind it.

Well, I have an idea. What do you know about the Illuminati?

I come to you, the Electoral College, to ask you to take this situation seriously, and into your own hands. Agents of the Illuminati may already be among us, and time is short. The danger of giving the wrong man too much power in these times cannot be understated.

Amongst yourself, you must take turns being President and attempt to root out the Illuminati. Put it to a vote, and let the President-elect's actions speak for their themselves.


Day One Begins. Nine players remain, five votes to elect. The day ends at 2:40 PM EST on January 10th.

Sup guys. Nocturnal President here. My role allows me to insta-lynch anyone I want without needing the majority vote. Even though he's not on the player list, I'm voting to LYNCH: FRANK, just to be on the safe side.

Cool role, Jackstick.

It seems to me as if there are three collective actions we can take on D1:

(1) Elect a president randomly and then let that president lynch randomly. The problem is that whatever outcome occurs is likely to be overweighted in assessing that president's potential role. For example, if they are a villager and pick one of their own, it looks bad for them. To avoid this, we could agree to essentially ignore the D1 lynch outcome, but this might let an Illuminati day-kill slip through the cracks.

(2) We could abstain, but would this be disadvantageous for the village in terms of wasting time?

(3) We could randomly elect a president, and then collectively vote for a random person who the president should lynch. That way the outcome is faultless (or at least the fault is distributed) and provides us some information.

Did I miss anything? Thoughts?

This is also terrible because the Town should always attempt to lynch when it has a free shot. Traditionally Day 1 on RV gets wasted anyway, but recently things have been changing. Perhaps this game we'll actually get something done.

This is what I assumed would happen Day 1. However, as the game drags on, it might be beneficial to elect the most pro-Town person as President. This is because being President likely has other ramifications with respect to game mechanics other than just picking the lynch.

Great, this is the sort of reasoning I was trying to get rolling by treating this seriously from D1. I thought (1) was a poor idea, but worried that it would just end up happening due to lack of consensus.

I haven't, so I shamefully accept Spiro's snark. I've played more real life mafia than forum mafia, so I guess without being privy to that explicit "mafia heads up" pre-game bit I second guessed myself to avoid assumptions.
