I thought I had last talked with hiker about a year ago, but it turns out it was actually May 2012.

I tried to find an obituary; his date of death would have to be somewhere between May 23rd (the last day he logged onto RV) and September 23rd (the latest date his TBI information could have marked him as deceased). I couldn't find anything, though, and it's more likely than not that it simply doesn't exist.

I stand by what I've said in the past. For all his faults, I'm here at RV today and I've become friends with all of you because of him, and I am very appreciative of that.

Thank you for letting us know, Sah; I doubt I would have figured this out otherwise.

Happy to. I know this site still hates me - both rightly and wrongly - for a lot of things I've done and said over the years, but I thought that this was something people would want to know, even if it was coming from me. I don't really mind if people use me as a way of channeling their anger or grief, as it doesn't really matter to me one way or the other.

I'll go ahead and take off now. If any of you have any questions, I'll come back to answer them to the best of my ability. Otherwise, peace out and try to find happiness somewhere.

It is always easy to judge someone for something they did in the past. The Hiker we knew was responsible for creating a great community that, if this news is true, has outlived him albeit not by much apparently.

Remember the man you knew, not the one he may have been at one point or another.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Putting aside what he may have done in ihis past, he always seemed respectful to others (with the exception of the big mountain of secrets). Now that he's gone, I think we owe him some respect.
