I think for the character of the Wayward Vagabond to have a satisfactory ending, he has to be the one to defeat Jack, or at the very least have a role in it.

He's got the weight of both the Prospitan and Dersian soldiers on his shoulders, and I imagine he also feels responsible for John's 'demise'.

These are all pages that show just crushing these burdens are on WV. Due to his role as 'commander' of John, and as one of the individuals responsible for rebuilding civilization on Earth, WV could quite possibly be the character with the most connection to the reader... the character where Homestuck would seem completely ruined should they die... the 'most important character in Homestuck.'
