A Few Adjustments (Clan Chat - RV Lounge)

Hey, everyone :awesome:

After having some time to test our new Clan Chat punishment system, we've decided to make a few adjustments. These are nothing big - Just some under the hood maintenance to insure things are working as intended.

Rv Lounge Punishment System:

Strikes
Strikes

are the system we use in Rv Lounge to determine "Step Ups". Strikes will accumulate through Verbal Warnings or Kicks made against a user. Upon collection of 5 Strikes, a user will receive a Step Up in the RVL punishment system and the associated ban time will be issued. Any additional Strikes past the five that are required for a Step Up will roll over towards the next Step Up. (Example: User with 4 Strikes is kicked from the clan chat. 4 + 2 = Step Up and 1 Strike)

* Strikes will be removed from a user's record over time with good behavior.

Note: Automatic Step Ups may be given at the discretion of the Clan Chat Manager in cases of extreme misbehavior, regardless of a user's current Step or Strike count.

Verbal Warning - One (1) Strike
If a user is being disruptive in RVL, they will receive a Verbal Warning. This warning will be documented by the RVL Mod who issues it, and count as one Strike towards a Step Up.
Kick - Two (2) Strikes
Continued disruptive behavior in RVL, or other forms of rule breaking, will warrant a kick from the Clan Chat. This is also a one hour ban, and will be documented by the RVL Mod who issues it. A kick from RVL counts as two Strikes towards a step up. If a user is kicked after being issued a warning, the Strikes from both offenses will be added together, resulting in three (3) Strikes total.

Also be aware that, if a moderator feels that the current topic of discussion within the Clan Chat is inappropriate, they will request a change of subject. Failure to change the discussion topic following a moderator's request may result in warnings and/or kicks, depending on the situation.

Note: Bypassing the one hour ban of a kick by entering RVL on a different account will count as an automatic Step Up. Continued bypasses will result in further steps.

The Rv Lounge Step System
(Step 1) First ban: 48 hours
(Step 2) Second ban: 1 week
(Step 3) Third ban: 1 month
(Step 4) Indefinite ban*

* A user may appeal an indefinite ban six months after receiving it. An appeal letter may be sent to the RVL Manager (Goten) and the appeal will be discussed among the Clan Chat Moderators to determine if it should be accepted or denied. Any user returning from an indefinite ban will be on Step 3 as a "probation period."

Note: Bypassing any of these ban periods by entering RVL on an alternate account will result in an automatic step up on both the Clan Chat and the forums. This means that, should you receive a ban that takes you from Step 1 to Step 2 in RV Lounge, and then intentionally bypass it, you will receive two step ups on the forums (one for the step up in the Clan Chat, and one for the ban evasion).

A user will be stepped down to the previous step after one month of good behavior. If a user has continual behavioral problems within the Clan Chat, they may remain at their current step until there is a noticeable change in attitude.

Rv Lounge to RuneVillage Forum Punishments
Disruptive behavior within the Clan Chat may carry over punishments to the forums. For every step up above Step 1 (Step 2 and upwards) a user receives within Rv Lounge, they will receive a step up on the forums as well.

The List of Changes:

Naughty Points have been renamed to Strikes.
There has been an adjustment to how Strikes are removed from a user's record. In order to avoid users "laying low" until their Strikes wears off, we will not be disclosing the exact timeframe/process of how this works. The general idea remains the same; Good behavior will get them removed.
Extra Strikes from a Step Up now add towards the next. (Example: User with 4 Strikes is kicked from the clan chat. 4 + 2 = Step Up and 1 Strike) This is how it was initially meant to work, but poor wording within the Punishment system outline made it sound like a user would start on 0 NP after receiving a step.
Automatic Step Ups may now be given at the discretion of the Clan Chat Manager in cases of extreme misbehavior, regardless of a user's current Strike count. This will only effect extremely troublesome users who have no further intention than to cause trouble within the Clan Chat.
Moderators are warranted to warn and/or kick for persistent refusal to change the subject of discussion within the Clan Chat. If a moderator requests a subject change, it's because the current discussion is either inappropriate or borderline inappropriate.
Information on appealing an indefinite ban has been added.

So basically, Naughty Points now = Steps Strikes, it's easier to get banned, and the use of the word "step" in your post is great.
Also, in your version of baseball, it's five strikes and you're out, as opposed to three. Good baseball, bro. :awesome:

I like the idea that users don't know how long it takes for a strike to go away. Not that they won't figure that out at some point. I say you use a random number generator for each one :weird:

Yes and no. If a user's obvious intention is to get banned, we're not going to take our time tallying up the strikes. That's really all this change means. It won't have any effect on the normal chatters.

Back onto topic, I find this change interesting for the fact of now it's renamed to strikes instead of naughty points
