That sounds like a fantastic way to watch the film.

I am personally excited about this movie and really want to see it. I have not made plans though.

first, when i heard this was going to be 3 movies long i thought: oh god. this again? a crappy money grab.

then my friend who is really into lord of the rings, told me the story is split up into 3 movies because they incorporate more into the storyline from unpublished books that tolkien was writing at the time of his death.

currently, im not convinced. i will go watch the first hobbit if friends go. and i will base my interest in the other two hobbits after that.

Random question?
Is The Hobbit like the Lord of the Rings?
Main reason I haven't read it or watched it yet.
Well I technically haven't seen the Lord of the Rings yet XD and I got sidetracked while reading the books in DAEP

The Hobbbit is a prequel to the lord of the rings, it tells the story of bilbo baggins and how he acquired the ring also the adventure he went on. This made him write his book "The Hobbit: There and Back Again", which is just a mcguffin to bring some of the old actors back if you ask me.

Technically it's not a prequel if it was published before LOTR (although Tolkien did retcon The Hobbit slightly...).

I'll probably watch this whenever I get around to it. Like in a year or two...

Yup! If you are going to read lord of the rings, start with the hobbit.
...Although if you don't, you arnt missing anything. The hobbit is a very seperate story from the lord of the rings.

I can read relatively fast when I get into something, but until then... I haven't read anything the past 2 years then started reading the entire Twilight saga about a week and a half before the final movie came out XD ( I finished the day the movie came out :D )

So who knows when I'll get into Lord of the Rings XD

I cannot wait until The Hobbit comes out... I am looking forward to see some of my favorite scenes from the books come to life in the movies. I also agree that it is good to read The Hobbit, before starting The Lord of the Rings, but you don't have to. When the first Lord of the Rings movie came out, I started with The Fellowship of the Ring. :P
I also believe that it makes sense for some of the old actors from Lord of the Rings to come back in The Hobbit. After all, some of the characters that were in The Lord of the Rings were also in The Hobbit. I do like that Elijah Wood is reprising his role as Frodo, and how they're going to incorporate him into the movie.

Fuzzy Bunny WIN

Though I think it could be done in one movie, let alone three. We'll see, though. It's been 7-8 years since I read those books though, I might need to revisit them. The Hobbit especially.

Going to the midnight release with some bros. Never read it. Played that old PS2 game. That was fun. Looks to be a good movie too.

I saw it on Saturday, in IMAX 3D because I had heard the HFR screen made people nauseous.

I enjoyed the movie and thought it was great. Fairly light hearted, just as in the books The Hobbit is more light hearted than The Lord of the Rings. I thought the pacing of the movie was perfect and completely justifies three movies at its current pace. There was a couple things I didn't like, but overall I truly enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

Not that fond of Super hero movies. Though that would be in my top 10 of the year.

Not that many amazing movies came out this year.
