Hey musicians. What if some of us got together, picked a song, learned it, each person records themselves playing, and put it together as a collab for Youtube? Interested?

I like this idea, but I dunno if I'd have time to learn a song.

I was actually thinking of starting something myself. The trouble I see is that it might be hard for people to learn a song we chose, or just don't care enough to want to for something like this.

Vocals should be fine though.

Make it something metal that I can scream to and I'm down.

I'm up for doing that, I'm confined to only electric guitar at the moment though, I'm at university. I have no preference on what song we pick, perhaps something reasonably simple so everyone could take part, but I'm down for whatever.

tru

Good idea! This could encourage me to practice a little :D I prefer acoustic guitar, but can give the electric a shot too... might even try to play it on the piano, depends on where I am.

I'd love to do some acoustic guitar for this!

I now have a bass and would be interested in playing to this song that we would pick.

I vote: If you tolerate this then your children will be next - Manic Street Preachers.

It's an easy song to start out with, simple chord structure, just a bunch of A minors, G's and C's etc. No barring as far as i know, maybe a B chord not sure.
Up to the rest of you.

There's no B chords in the song as far as I'm aware. There's just Am, Dm, G, C, Em and F.

It should be pretty doable for everyone, looking at the thread on the level of peoples abilities at RuneVillage.

tru

I've opened it up in Guitar Pro and it seems easy enough. I'd be for it I guess, just as a test run for this. It almost seems too easy.

EDIT: I couldn't find a specified tuning so I'll just assume it's standard?

To be honest I think the best bet would be to make something more along the lines of a CD (not really a CD, but just a few tracks with people taking different roles on each). You're going to get people who do the same thing (a lot of guitar/bass/drums/voice) which would make for a pure collision of musical stylings.

I just got back from doing a bit of work in the studio and would love a small side project to work on - if you need someone to head the collab or help you with it, drop me a line. But other than that, I would love to do some recording (saxophone, bass guitar, clarinet, irish whistle and voice) if anyone is interested?

PS. If anyone has a good set of keys or acoustic guitar, I might be able to use you for a paying track, so message me too.

Gotta record one song before you do a CD.
