Ten days now. Currently deciding what kind of character I'm going to make. I'm thinking thief.

Pretty sure I'm going with Argonian, but I don't know what class yet. I want to do a ranger, but the bows and things were awful in Oblivion, so I think I'll wait and see.

I honestly don't know. Might run spellsword Breton, like I did in Oblivion. Or perhaps a Nord.

They actually upped the power of bows for this one, but the trade off is that they're ridiculously powerful. I'd just give it a shot.

Argonian does sound pretty good though... I do enjoy their bonus to alchemy a whole lot...

Bows in oblivion were a huge improvement on those in morrowind, but yeah...still not that great.

I have to make a Nord, native to the land and all that...will prolly go melee-heavy custom class, as usual with my first playthrough.

Also, there's definitely another topic about this but meh.

I'll probably be a Nord to stick to the native population. I'm usually one to make my own custom warrior-type class.

I'm pretty stoked that I have a 3 day weekend to no-life it.
Probably going to make a Khajit; a sneaky sneaky khajit.

Is it worth the ~$60 to someone who hasn't owned an Elder Scrolls game? I'm seriously considering getting this, but the prices for new games are ludicrously high when they first come out. I would like to know what I'm getting before I get it.

It's times like this that I look back on everything I bought earlier in the year and question if I really needed it or if I should have saved for Skyrim lol.

Oh well, Christmas will come soon enough

Confused turtle here. Gonna wield two shields and pummel the crap out of everything. I'll probably be a Nord.

Buy Oblivion and try that. It'll probably be cheap on Steam at some point soon if it isn't already. Skyrim is going to have a lot of improvements over the flaws of Oblivion, but if you don't like that, it's a safe bet you won't like Skyrim either.

Lander, I tried looking for a Skyrim topic. Couldn't find one after two minutes of searching so I made a new one. If there is one this can probably be merged.

I'll just pirate it, it's not worth €50-€60 to me (whatever it costs)

Seems cool though, I'll be using magic, I always use magic

Agreed.

Other boards have been ruining what made it seem interesting to me and the leaked gameplay footage. I was really looking forward to it, but now it's just "Eh, I'll get it when I get it"

I doubt that the game could entertain me for 500 hours, if it can then I promise you I will end up buying it anyway

I just haven't seen too many things about it that excite me, it hasn't proven itself to be worth $70 to me so I would've never bought it without playing it first anyway, it's not like I'm taking away from Bethesda's sales

I'm positive there's one but it's definitely old, like announcement of Skyrim old...I'm not gonna cry about it.

In my opinion, it's totally worth it. But getting Oblivion is great advice as well, I grabbed the GOTY edition for like 30 bucks last year for the PS3. And though Oblivion was an incredible game, I had a better time playing Morrowind (elder scrolls 3) so if you're looking for something even cheaper, get that. Assuming you have a PC capable of running it without too much trouble, or you have access to an old school xbox.

Just like every other game in the main TES series, I'm going to very likely make my first character a melee-based Nord, then end up totally disregarding that original function and switch to stealth because I'm blowing all of my gold on health/magicka potions.

Then it ain't worth playin', my son.
