I can speak English and Spanish.

I believe I took my first spanish class in the 4th grade, and took a legitimate spanish class in the 9th or 10th grade.

As for other languages, I'd love to learn just about anything, practical or not. I find other cultures and their languages fascinating.

I'm fluent in Spanish and English. I study linguistics as part of my international affairs major, so I'm very very good at picking up on linguistic parallels and decoding languages, even if I don't know it.

I specifically avoided Spanish through school. By sheer chance, I lucked into a German class in highschool in the only two years that a teacher/(local college exchange student) happened to be in my home town. It was never offered again.

I'd like to learn Japanese and get more fluent in German. In engineering that's about all the language you really need.

English fluently, Cantonese fluently enough that anyone unfamiliar with the language would think I am fluent :P

Took French from grades 3 to 9, but never learned anything. A real shame, actually.

English, Deutsch, Türkçe, Nederlands, Español, 普通话 (Mandarin).

First three are fluent, but wouldn't consider any of them native :/. Dutch I could probably speak fluently if I didn't mix up some stuff with German and if I weren't a lazy bum. I could probs live in Spain if I practiced a little more... and Chinese is just fun. :awesome: Also I have an interest in French atm.

Yes, Spanish. But I'm still learning. :P
Since 1st grade... So 7 years.
Like Lou said, anything. But I really want to learn Latin... I have no idea why, it's just always fascinated me for some reason.

I'm borderline fluent in Spanish, taking it as one my A-levels. Used to be decent at French but I've forgotten most of it now :(

I speak Spanish, English, French, and Italian. I speak Spanish fluently and I started speaking ever since I was little since that's the only language my parents spoke to me and still do to this day (with maybe a hint of Spanglish :P). I speak English fluently but prior to grade 5, I only had an hour or so of English class in elementary school. I'm a decent French speaker which I first learned when I was four or so back in elementary school; I was definitely a better speaker when I was little since most of my classes were in French (Math and Science included) so that's a lot more exposure I had than I do now which is just two classes in French. I speak Italian at a conversational level which I just started taking this past summer so yeah I have a long way to go.

Any new language would be interesting to learn :P

Norwegian (Bokmål). I taught myself in school, fished in Norway when I was in my late teens, but now I don't really have much of a reason to speak it these days.

English, obviously. I took five years of German in school (five years ago) such that I remember a lot and I accidentally slip it into everyday conversation, but I couldn't carry on a conversation to save my life.

I'm currently learning Japanese and I'd have to say that's going quite well (despite several-week-lapses in studying every few months). It's really fun to be able to watch things like The Amazing Race when they go to Japan and I can read some of what's on all the signs.

I can speak Dutch and English fluently, Dutch is my native language and I can speak English on a near native level, only my vocabulary is lacking because my exposure to the language is smaller seeing as I don't live in an English speaking country. My grammar, spelling and pronunciation is probably as good as any American's, though (and I'm willing to bet better than a significant amount of Americans)
I never consciously learned to speak English, I've had English classes since I was 10/11 until I was 18/19, but they never really taught me much, just the basics of grammar I guess and the rest I just picked up from all kinds of media (pronunciation mainly from TV, spelling mainly from the internet and games I think, vocabulary from all over the place)

I've had about 5 years of French classes, but I never enjoyed them and although enough of the vocabulary remains that I can often understand signs and other things, I can't really carry a conversation

I've also had 2 years of German, but that didn't really teach me much, I mainly rely on the fact that Dutch is mutually intelligible with German, so I can understand a lot of it, but I can't speak it very well

I'm fluent in English, Spanish, and Pig Latin. Yes, seriously. Always wanted to take a crack at sign language or braille but never got around to it.
