I would definitely say the Nidhogg. Norse mythology is probably the most badass of all the legends. A dragon who gnaws on the roots of the world tree Yggdrasil

I was thinking more of the Liger that could fly and cast spells, but that might be more an imaginary creature than a mythical one... :P
