I don't think Apple is going to be affected too much, stock prices aren't going to plummet severely or anything. There will be a visible impact on the company's progress and direction though.

First of all, R.I.P. Steve Jobs.

I will begin this by stating I am not a personal fan of Apple products. I do not like the style, nor do I approve of the operating system personally, I won't get into details.

My main issue has always been with Apple's hardware platform. Software, in my opinion, should be implementable on any hardware platform provided that the requirements for running said software are met. Apple took their product and made it hardware-specific, so they could increase profit by holding a hardware monopoly. Economically, it paid off, but it's something I will always hold a grudge with them for. (This is only referring to general computing Operating systems; I do not expect a video game console to have a hardware-independent implementation).

That being said, it is still sad to see at least what most people consider to be the charismatic leader of a technology company.
