What you may NOT know, is that I have the world's most kawaii discord bot, Imouto-chan, and I have put together a mafia setting for her that may or may not work perfectly fine. This was finished last night with a slight modification this morning to allow another set-up for games smaller than 9 players.

How it works:

Players need to use "$register" in the #chat-mafia channel in order to add themselves to the list of players. You can register more than once. Please don't. This will be fixed later on, but for now it exists for debugging purposes. There may or may not have been some apathy involved with this decision.

Once all players are registered someone can use "$start" to begin the game. From here, Imouto-chan will begin assigning roles based on a few factors"

This is roughly how it works:

If there are 9 players {
     Use Matrix6 roles }
If there are 7-8 players {
    Use Pie_E7 set-up }
If there are 6 or less players {
    1 Mafia Goon with X Normal Villagers }

How to Play

Once everyone is registered and $start has been used. Imouto will assign players their roles. Players will now need to use "$role" IN A PM WINDOW WITH IMOUTO-CHAN

Do not use $role in the standard window. This is only temporarily possible for debugging convenience and may be removed in just a couple days. This also applies to role specific commands.

The game will begin at dayphase and players may cast their votes by saying "**Vote/Unvote Username**" (This will bold your text). Currently Imouto does not automatically tally the votes. This feature is coming, but was a lower priority. When players agree that 50% or more of the players have voted on a specific player, someone will need to use "$Kill Username". This command will only work during the dayphase unless you are Mafia in which case it becomes accessible during the night phase.

All Usernames are case sensitive with how they appear in the start up list.

Once a player has been killed or "$kill skip" has been used, the night phase will begin. Imouto currently divides the Night into 7 stages.


  • Roleblocker's turn
  • Jailkeeper's Turn
  • Detective's Turn
  • Doctor's Turn
  • Mafia's Turn
  • Tracker's Turn
  • Imouto Lights up the Night

This order was done so that players would know if they were roleblocked or not. Currently, a Mafia Roleblocker won't know if they were jailed. This is a known issue, but only occurs in Setup A of Matrix 6 (Meaning that the only person that they can really block is the Jailkeeper. Roleblocker will always trump Jailkeeper. If they both target each other, the Jailkeeper will be told they were roleblocked).

If a role does NOT exist in a set-up, Imouto-chan is set to automatically advance to the next stage. However, given the current programming, Imouto needs to receive a message before she will advance to the next phase. This is a temporary issue as well. For example, if you are the Detective, you still have to wait for the roleblocker to submit their action. After that, there is an empty Jailer phase. If Imouto doesn't accept your command, just try it again. If you're playing a small game with 6 or less players and the only night action is a Mafia Kill, just spam Imouto in PM a little. Again, this is temporary mechanic. Imouto will eventually just send a message to the channel every X seconds and progress the stages that way. This will keep players from being able to figure out what roles are in the game based on how long an action takes.

If you have a night role, Imouto will tell you what your command is when you use $role.

The game ends automatically when the Mafia are dead or the villagers match the mafia in number. If only 1 or 2 players are registered this will automatically conclude the game.

Once the game has completed Imouto will take a moment to reset the game. Please give her a moment to execute this. She will say "User lists have been cleared." once everything has been completed.

If you have any questions or suggestions feel free to let me know about them. And definitely report any bugs that you encounter. This is intended to provide some faster moving mafia games that don't make players wait for days at a time to play again if they've been been killed off in Forum Mafia. This is not intended to be a replacement for it. Please continue to host your own unique variants of Mafia on the Forums.

Mafia Fridays/Saturdays

Is there a time people are easily available? Discord is generally fairly active on Friday and Saturday, but if people want to set up a recurring time to get together and play, I will list it here using EST (My time zone until February).

I want to play some discord mafia this saturday. I've had a handful of people tell me "any time" is good. So let's shoot for around noon EST because I should be awake by then.

Expect this to be bumpy at first. The setting has never been properly used.

EDIT: 1600EST works out better for more people.
