The Real Truth of the Drunken Dwarf

To many of you, the Drunken Dwarf is a nuisance, a sad attempt at a random event. Oh yes, he used to be a thriving young Dwarf working in the mines of Keldagrim, but those days are over. Ever since the accident, his life had been too hard to manage, so he quit his job working in the dilapidated mines. This is the tale of a younger, not so Drunken Dwarf...

Olodian grew up like all the young dwarves. He was taught how to mine and smith the ores in the rocks, and then how to create armor and weapons on an anvil. He made friends and enemies, and lived his life. He eventually became old enough to work full time in the mines. Olodian was as happy as could be. He worked his way up through the positions in Keldagrim. While mining one day, tragedy struck. A good friend of Olodian's was mining ores, and suddenly there was an explosive gas. Olodian called out for his friend, but it was too late, his friend had been massacred. Olodian was scarred for life; he stayed in his cave for days and days.

One day, when he woke up, there was a note on his table. All it read was "Meet me at the top of White Wolf Mountain." Olodian ate breakfast and traveled all day to reach the top of the mountain. He saw a fire, and ran to it. Sitting next to the fire was a man, who stood up and approached Olodian. He extended his hand and introduced himself as the Oracle. His job is to find people who macro, and crack down on them. He was a link between the land and the gods of Runescape. Olodian was offered a job to help crack down on these so called "autoers". He was reluctant, at fist, but he was offered all the beer he could dream of and the powers of teleportation. All he had to do was teleport to random people, make sure they were actually there, and be on his way. It sounded easy enough, and the pay was good. He still wasn't sure if he wanted to do it, until the Oracle simply remarked that he would be immortal. Olodian just asked what he had to do, and he was given a test. He had to put his life on the line and go deep into the Wilderness and mine a single Runite ore. He asked why this was his test. The Oracle told him that it was to test if he was loyal or not. He agreed he would try in the morning.

After a quick breakfast, he was teleported to the beginning of the wilderness by the Oracle, and was told that he had 3 hours. Once he obtained the ore he would be teleported back to the mountain. Olodian got off to a good start, making it to Level 25 in just an hour. He slowed down, got something to drink, and rested for some time. He left again, still with about 2 hours left. He was walking now, with time to spare, when all of the sudden, he was hit by a spell. He was frozen solid! He used his pickaxe to chip his way out of the ice, and then ran as fast as he could. He ran through the trees and was safe, for a bit. He realized that another hour had passed with all of the danger.

He was approaching a large mound of spiders. He went west, and saw Deadly Red Spiders. Being a simple level 10 Dwarf, he was terrified. He remembered his promise to the Oracle, and ran through. The rune rocks were just ahead! He hurried and mined the ore, lucky to be alive.

After a few moments, Olodian noticed that he hadn’t been teleported. He realized that it must be a Multi-combat zone for him to be teleported while being attacked. He ran west, then south, still being attacked, hoping for a Multi-combat zone. After running for a while, he finally saw it! He was still being chased, however. The second he made it into Multi-combat zone, he was hit by a spell. He recognized the spell and felt his heart skip a beat - Teleport block! He had to fight for five more minutes before escaping! His foe was over 40 Combat levels higher than him! Olodian realized that he had no chance, being in this deep level of wilderness. Olodian began to black out as a Dragon Dagger special attack was used on him. Before he was out cold, he saw someone come out of nowhere, a level 70 start attacking his pursuers, the spider first and then the what he assumed to be a "hybrid" he had heard of.

He woke up to see the Oracle. He was told that he passed the test and had the job. Olodian still has this job today, though these "autoers" have found ways to get around him, and he is no longer needed. The thought that he could have died years ago, happy to rest, haunts him. He knows he can't be mortal again and regrets it, so he drinks away the sadness that comes with the loss of his greatest friend.
