The Passion of the Cheese


In my life, there are a lot of things which I value greatly; and one of them is cheese. I love cheese. Cheese is so delicious, and refreshing, and eating cheese is such a joyous experience; and out of all of the many varieties of cheese in the world, my favorite kind of cheese is Jarlsberg cheese.

According to Wikipedia, "Jarlsberg cheese is a mild, Swiss Emmentaler-style, cow's-milk cheese that has large irregular holes. It comes from Norway and has a yellow-wax rind and a semifirm yellow interior. The texture is buttery and rich, and the flavor is mild and slightly sweet. It is an all-purpose cheese, good both for cooking and for eating as a snack." The kind of Jarlsberg cheese that I eat is shaped like this:



Jarlsberg is a somewhat hard cheese when eaten after being refrigerated. If left out for about an hour or so, it softens up, which gives it a more cheese-like taste, and makes it easier to eat. Don't leave the cheese out for too long, otherwise it may spoil. Like all types of cheeses, Jarlsberg needs to be refrigerated when it is not being eaten.

Jarlsberg can be eaten in a variety of ways. It can be cut up into thin slices to be placed on top of a cracker, in order to create a delectable combo. It can also be eaten by itself, which is just as good, or it can even be eaten by taking the entire chunk of cheese and eating into it with your entire mouth. This method is not intended for cheese which is being shared with others, as it will leave large teeth marks in the cheese where the last bite was taken, not to mention infect it with lots of germs.
