Back when I was a young one, a new member of our family showed up at the door one day. He had a strong look to him, sort of an invincible strong pride to himself. At first, I had no idea who he was, but soon learned to accept him as one of my own.
After a few months of him living with us, I realized that he was a very unique member of my family. His knowledge seemed to have no boundaries, and his persistence seemed limitless. I always wanted to be around him, and he was always willing to spend time with us.
After spending even more time with him, I realized that he brought me much joy. Whether he was telling me magical stories at bedtime, or if he was playing with me when I was bored, he was always there for me. As the years went on, my tiny toddler brain began to expand. I went through some changes. I devolved; I advanced. With my new abilities, I could now fully understand what he truly meant when he told us a story. I knew not only what he told me, but the moral of his teachings, also. It was then when I fully began to appreciate him being there whenever I needed him.
He always took part in family events. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, he was always there; though I had a strange feeling that he was around sometimes when he shouldn't have been. Some of these family activities affected his health, and we were all very concerned.
As the years went on, we noticed a drastic change in his behavior. As he aged, he seemed to change. His once interesting stories began to lose effect on my imagination. I soon began to spend less and less time with him.
]In the end, we all realized that he had had a good life, and had to move on. And so we said our goodbyes and set him free.
His name?computer.
