The Dwarf's Journey

The heat on the back of his neck burned with the intensity of the two Suns, which floated high up in the purple haze often known as the sky. The man slung his bag onto the sand covered floor, bent down and took a bottle of water from it. Drinking sparingly, he quenched his thirst before putting the bottle back inside his bag, hefting it onto his shoulder and continuing his journey.
To call him a man to his face would be an insult; he was a dwarf, and proud of it. Kringos was known for his prowess as a fighter and had taken many men down with a swift head butt at a certain height for calling him a, "Small Man."Now he was in trouble and was facing a trek across an extremely hot desert, a steep mountain covered in deep snow and then finally a long journey across a dangerous landscape full of wild animals, and deadly people who would not hesitate to attack him upon sight.

The story began several days before the current one. Kringos woke up from a tiring night which he spent drinking, talking to attractive female dwarves (well, he presumed that they were female, it is hard to tell with a beard covering the face) and drinking some more. His head was pounding but he was used to that. He sat upright to discover where he had slept overnight and was shocked to see that he was in a jail. To the left of him was a goblin and to the right was a pirate. Great! He thought to himself, watching as the guards walked over to his cell after noticing that their prisoner was awake.

“What did I do?” Kringos asked innocently.
“You violently assaulted a man in a Pub with a sharp axe, which we have confiscated,” replied the taller of the two guards, who had a very dodgy haircut.
“WHERE IS MY AXE?” The angry dwarf roared furiously, shaking with rage as he looked around for his axe.
“I am afraid that it is in the evidence room, being examined to see if some of the blood on it matches the blood of a person recently murdered within the vicinity.” The second guard, who was short and fat, but still taller than Kringos, said.
Kringos stared blankly at him before asking when he was going to be released.

“We will release you when the results of the blood testing have returned and we can be positive that the murder was nothing to do with yourself.” Guard One replied. Kringos swore and collapsed on the floor as if he was in pain. The guards panicked and rushed to open his cell to check on him. When the door was unlocked and Guard Two entered and knelt beside him, Kringos took his chance. He sprung to his feet, knocking the guard away, before leaping out of the cell, throwing the other guard into the cell and slamming the door shut. It locked automatically. He allowed himself a smile before asking the pirate where the evidence room was.

“Arrr…’tis to the left of ye! Gar!” Came the reply.
Amid the confusion of the other inmates shouting at him to be released as well, Kringos had failed to spot a door to the left of him clearly labeled, ‘Evidence Room’ and it was unlocked. He rushed inside and saw his axe lying on the table. He grabbed it, threw it over his shoulder and took a quick glance around the room. He spotted a bag full of meat and took that, as well as his weapon before leaving the jail swiftly. He waved at the two guards as he passed them, nudging the keys towards them with his feet, just out of arms reach.

An hour later, Kringos was several miles from the jail and sitting by a campfire, gnawing on his stolen feast. He finished and started sharpening his axe with a whetstone as it was blunt from its time being examined. Suddenly, he heard footsteps behind him. He startled and began to turn around when he felt a heavy blow to his head and everything went black...
