Star Wars Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith

This game came out in May, but I feel it deserves a look at owing to all the hype of Revenge these days. Revenge of the Sith was a game that had a serious lot of potential but only got so far in the end. It takes you through the movie, with levels designed to correspond with story, with the two playable characters Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Control of one of the two depends upon the level and situation, and both have style of attacks unique to them. This is where the greatest aspect of the games comes in: the lightsaber attacks and duels.

To create the ultimate Star Wars lightsaber dueling, the game's staff turned to Nick Gillard, the stunt coordinator for the Star Wars films, so they could perfect the game's duels and moves. He did succeed in helping them too, as the game's lightsaber combat is incredible and is the highlight of this game. Duels against Count Dooku and Anakin never felt so real, as there are tons of different attack combinations and combos to use in them. Nick Gillard did a tremendous job in helping out, as did the animators and designers for the combat system. Unfortunately, the lightsaber combat was the only real exciting concept of this game, as the other aspects were surprisingly disappointing. The graphics could be a lot sharper and more realistic, as they strike me as very basic designs.

The character models really suffered in this game, as they look like the old GTA: Vice City characters with plain, non expressionless poses and the dubs were sometimes off. An interesting feature in this game was the RPG like element of leveling your characters up after the completion of every level. Based on your performance in the previous level, you got points you could put into any Force skill you wanted. You may be the type to prefer a high powered Force push, or perhaps you prefer better lightsaber skills and moves, or maybe you like the benefits of a high Force heal skill? Whatever you like, you're given the chance to level it up greatly, assuming you can perform well in the levels.

The controls of this game are fairly easy to get along with, except for the annoying auto targeting, which was a difficult control to use, owing to its position on the controller. Easily avoidable though, as you never really need to use it anyway. Well, after this evaluation I'd say this game at least merits a rent, as it has excellent combat system that will give you possibly the best lightsaber action ever. Die-hard Star Wars fans may want to pick it up, but to everyone else, a rent is fine. I'll now list some notable and drawback aspects of it:

Notable Features
-Excellent lightsaber combat. Possibly the best of any Star Wars game. -Neat mini-games that are unlock able -The two-player fights you can do with a friend are neat. With a nice list of playable characters and arenas.

Drawbacks
-Graphics could have been a lot better. Much sharper and realistic. -Character models and cut scene animations were not impressive. The expressionless characters and dubs being off were annoying. -The game was not very long. They could of added much more to it and have some interesting objectives, side or not.
