The Ultimate Question! Why Did He Join?

Why did he join? A question commonly asked by many RuneVillage members, but never truly answered. If asked, Whydidijoin merely replies “HAHAHAHA!” and changes the topic rapidly. Today, I will attempt to find the real reason behind Whydidijoin’s decision to join.


The story begins with a young girl, aged five, who had very few friends. To cope with her lack of companions, she turned to the internet, where she discovered the wonderful world of Jagex games. Among the list of games, she found RuneScape, a Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. She really wanted to join but, due to an unfortunate encounter on MSN with a person known in the gaming community as ‘Gamestar’, she was unable to think of a good name.



One day, she was walking to Wal-Mart when she took a wrong turn and ended up in a dark alley. Down this dark alley, she was approached by a strange man. This man was riding a purple unicorn and had a technicoloured dream-coat. His name was Joseph.



Joseph was a friend of Bob Saget, who once danced on Chuck Norris’s father’s doorstep. Joseph got off his unicorn and started talking to the young girl, telling her that “Any dream will do!” Then he got back on his unicorn and flew off to Kentucky.



The next day, the girl woke up and was surprised to find out that she had mysteriously become a boy. Along with the gender confusion that ensued, he had a sudden urge to join RuneScape, but wasn’t sure why he was going to join. He thought long and hard and couldn’t think of a good reason to join. He skipped three miles to reach the Ramen Noodle store and, while he was waiting for the elderly man in front of him to pay and leave, stared out the window and saw a penguin hopping on the roof of a Mustang. The young boy was crazy about mustangs and thought that ‘Mustangnut’ would be a good name, but then he decided that he didn’t like nuts, so he dismissed the idea. He then thought about calling himself ‘Mr Penguin12’ as he was 12 at the time and was looking at a penguin, but then he felt that it was a stupid name. As he paid for his Ramen Noodles, he thought that he was quite rich, so ‘Richboi0’ came into his mind as a name suggestion, but he realised that calling himself a ‘boi’ would have been a bit silly.



After months of trying to think up a name, with ideas ranging from ‘Applequester’ to ‘Zone Fly,’ he still couldn’t think of a name. He was close to giving up until one day he received a phone call. He answered it and heard a squeaky voice say, “Join RuneScape and RuneVillage now!”



The boy was rather scared, so he stuttered a reply, “But I can’t think of a name, and why should I join?” And the answer was…”Why did I join?” But then the line went dead. In a moment of revelation, the boy finally figured out what his name should be. That is why Whydidijoin joined…
