If you’re looking for a great movie to enjoy at the theatres, look no further. Cinderella Man by far you best bet. This film is completely absorbing and an artfully made fairy tale and is the most promising film guaranteed Best Picture Oscar nominee. And if that’s not enough to motivate you to see this movie, its based on a true story and is by far, one of the most inspiration films you will ever see.
This movie brings back together Director Ron Howard with Russell Crowe from the blockbuster hit and Oscar winner, “A beautiful Mind” back in 2001. Russell Crowe plays the son of a poor Irish immigrants named James Braddock who becomes a lethal boxer. Known for his quick and power right handed punch, he mainly just wants to win enough fights to feed his wife Mae (Renee Zellweger) and their three children.
Fight after fight, Braddock comes up the undisputed victor and his future looks promising. That is, until the stock market crashes signaling the great depression to begin. To make matters even worse, Braddock injured his right hand in a fight, making his accountability and fighting ability plunge. Eventually, he has to accept welfare money for his family’s livelihood.
But his luck soon turns around again for the better. He knows he’s considered a deadbeat, and an easy target in the ring, where he is expected to lose every fight he enters. When that doesn’t happen, he becomes a problem for fight promoter, Jimmy Johnston (Bruce McGill), who can’t accept the fact a “hobo” like Braddock might rally enough to challenge Max Baer (Craig Bierko), the world heavyweight champ. In an effort to rid Braddock, Johnston and Baer do what ever they could to bully Braddock and his family.
Eventually, both Braddock and Baer both make it to the final fight where…well, I’d tell you what happens, but that would spoil the movie wouldn’t it? See you at the movies!
