When Bounty Hunter Goes Wrong

I can smell his fear, my target is getting closer and closer... I can sense him. A twig snaps behind my shoulder and I spin around and lash out with my scimitar. Blood splashes all over my face and in my eyes. I win. At least, that's what I think. As I wipe the blood from my eyes, what I thought was a glorious victory makes me smile. When I open my eyes, however, horror washes over me. My teammate lay dead on the ground in front of me, throat cut. A tear runs down the side of my left cheek, then another down my right. As I drop to my knees in disgust, I think back on all the good times we had shared...

After a few minutes of mourning, I remember my target... he could be anywhere by now. He could be watching me right now, I don't know. If he is watching me, I'm as good as dead. If he isn't... I I still have a chance. Closing my friends eyelids, I press on after my target.

Five minutes passed, still nothing. Not even a hint. He could be hiding, but where is there to hide in a dormant volcano?

Ten minutes later, I hear a twig snap again. Remembering the earlier incident, I don't swing my trusty scimitar in the direction of the sound. That... could very well prove to be my downfall...

As I spin my head around, I see the glint of a polished red Dragon Battleaxe coming down at me. I drop to the ground and roll out the way, but I'm too slow. I get clipped on the shoulder. As I scream with pain as the blood seeps from my wound, my opposition takes another swing at me, this time missing by just inches. As I reach over to my left, I feel the warm handle of my scimitar touch my flesh. I wrap my fingers around the grip just in time. Looking up, I see the Dragon Battleaxe come storming down at me once more. Luckily, I have my scimitar back and manage to block the attack with seconds to spare. With my opponent knocked back, I seize my chance to strike! Jumping to my knees, I wince with pain. I had momentarily forgotten about my injured shoulder. Gritting my teeth I furiously slash at my opponent. Even after he falls to the ground I carry on, swinging in all directions.

I don't know what drove me to such madness... maybe I blamed him for the death of my friends, or perhaps I am just a wild savage. I don't know what it was, but one thing is for sure, that guy didn't deserve what I gave to him. He no longer resembled a human body. I couldn't bare to look at him any longer. I sink to my knees in front of my opponent, pull out my dagger, and pierce my own heart...
