The Village Staff Rank

To give you some background on the new rank it was first organized by Hiker in the middle of July. This rank is obtained by doing work for the Runevillage site. Some examples of the daily jobs for these people are coding, writing, editing, helping with the newspaper, and helping with the toolkit.

The rank symbol was made by Hiker with ideas from Crazy Jedi during the time Legends were being planned as well. The man who thought of the idea was Hiker too, as he wanted to give people working hard and long on the site some recognition and appreciation.

Hiker says you will be able to choose which symbol you want to display when yo are both a legend and village staff. In the future when they have more time they might also be able to do some hacking on the forum software enabling display of both ranks. But as you all know due to the restricted software people both legend and villager staff will have to only have one rank at one time.

In Berserk's interview with Hiker, he said regarding the design of the rank symbol:

"Well, we did look at some designs using the shields and swords, etc. But frankly, we've got so many ranks now in the Village, that we're running out of good designs that use those symbols. We're also pretty limited by the size of the image we have to use, which is dictated somewhat by the design of the forum itself, so we just thought we'd make a bit of a departure and try out something totally new for this new rank."

And of course, with a new rank comes new features! Village staff get access to the following forums:

Blue Card Forum - Posts reported by the RuneVillage Legends [And now village staff] are automatically put here.
Requests Forum - Need an Administrator to take care of something? Post your request here!
RV Programmers
Guide Editors - For editing guides, grammar, spelling, putting multiple guides into one, etc.
Guide Coders - For changing the edited guides into html to post on RuneVillage.

Along with access to a new rank and new forums comes the blue card! The blue card is a button that Runevillage Legends and Village Staff have access to that enables one to report a post to the moderators. Thanks to the work of Chaos and Fantasy_guy, they have made it so that when a post is reported it goes to a new forum. No repeat reports are possible, either.

None of the original picks remain (Kirzath, Trendyhaz and Juanninze), all were picked on the the 13th of September except for Frizoid, Reo3k, and Tibur - they were added recently. The new picks have really helped get work to move along on the item and monster databases.
