Interview With Meepster On The Site

1. How long does it take to program the chat?

Well, it took me less than a day to program a basic, functioning version of the chat. That doesn't mean it's complete; I wouldn't consider the chat complete yet, there are a lot of things left to be done.

The hard part of programming is taking an unfinished product and perfecting it. I'm a perfectionist by nature, and thus I do not tolerate inefficient or poorly-written code very well.

So to answer your question, it takes an eon and a day to program the Chat; I'll never be done, because I'll always have ideas.

2. Is the RuneVillage Site getting a little scary make-over just for Halloween?

As far as I know, the forums are not getting a make-over for the Blesséd day of Samhain, but that doesn't mean the Chat isn't Expect a few... surprises... in the coming days.

3. Are you planning on changing the layout of the website in the future?

The Villagers are generally happy with our current theme, as is Hiker. I doubt we will change the layout much, but that doesn't mean we aren't open to suggestions...

4. Why do you like programming so much?

Programming is a challenge.

Honestly, anyone can program. It's based upon logic, like any spoken language is. If you follow the "grammar rules" of programming, you can really create anything.

The challenge, for me, is programming with style. I strive to create efficient, well written works of art. As in English, you can write like a two year-old or you can write like Shakespeare; I personally prefer the latter.

Most people will never notice a difference between a well-written program and a poorly-written one, but it is noticeable. Well written programs are faster, more stable, and just make sense to the user.

Cheers,
-Meepster
