Exclusive Interview With Euph - Runevillage Administrator!

Q. How did you first come across Runevillage?

A. I used to use Tip.It for quest guides and such, but tip.it went through a stage where they didn't update for ages and ages. I began searching for other websites with guides. I came across Runevillage and immediately liked it.

One day I needed help with some quest (I forget which) and looked at the forums. I needed to sign up to post, so sign up I did, and after that I helped a few people out and started to like it more and more.

Q. Why did you suddenly decide to help out with the editing and coding of guides?

A. I didn't. I was upset that RV was falling behind and not getting the guides up quick enough. I knew we had them, but the organization was simply too much for Hiker and Henner to manage on their own. When I got bumped to Board Moderator I got access to the guide forums, and basically launched into them. I started sticking guides to get people to write them and got things moving in the guide forums.

I got people to write fresh ones so we could get at least *a* guide up per subject. Our plan is then to raid Hiker's inbox and grab the other guides he has stored in his computer. We're going to roll them all into one big guide per subject and give everybody involved the full credit they deserve.

Q. When did you become a moderator, then a board moderator, then an admin?

A. I was made an Assistant Forum Moderator on January 4th 2004 (I think) Shortly after Henner bumped me up to Forum Moderator. I can't actually remember the day I got made a Board Moderator, I just remember it was the same day as Mattis. Then I was made a Forum Admin on August 29th, 2004.

Q. Did you enjoy being a board moderator?

A. Yes. I enjoyed having the ability to moderate all over the village. Sometimes as a Forum Mod I would see something in a forum I couldn't moderate, it used to frustrate me so much! When I got made a Board mod it meant I could deal with it. No matter where it happened. As I mentioned above, it also gave me the ability to get all of the guides organized and sorted.

Q. Do you enjoy being an admin? How many PMs do you get daily?

A. Yes. I think it's fantastic. I get to help out a lot more people this way, such as removing warnings for people, getting rid of over-sized signatures to make the forums load faster, helping people with lost accounts and so on.

I probably get about twenty PMs on an average day. If it's a busy day, say a new quest has been released then that number goes up. Some days are relatively peaceful though.

Q. How long do you spend on Runevillage each day?

A. Well, that depends. I work during the evenings mainly, so from noon till around 5pm and then from midnight till 2 or 3 am. I am usually around. Of course, I go out, work extra hours, have times when I'm not on the pc. (Like when I'm tinkering with my motorbike or something.) So let's round that to about 5 hours average. My days off are Monday and Tuesday, so unless I'm doing something I spend most of the day on Runevillage.

Q. How long do you spend on Runescape each day?

A. Give or take an hour, about the same as Runevillage.
