Abreu's 24 HR round in the HR Derby

There are 24 hours in a day. There are 24 0s in the number 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. There is even a TV show called 24. And tonight, a new 24 moment was created. In the 1st round of the 2005 MLB Home Run Derby, Bobby Abreu of the Philadelphia Phillies hit 24 home runs. This feat of hitting 24 home runs in a single round is 9 more than the previous record of 15 hit in a single round, which was set by Miguel Tejada of the Baltimore Orioles last season at the 2004 Home Run Derby in Houston.

The farthest of the dingers was a shot hit 517 feet over to right field. Not only did he crush the single round record, he was also 3 shy of tying the 3 round combined record, also set by Tejada in 2004. And with 2 more rounds to go, there is no doubt that he will rise up and break that record, also.
