Well, since I can't send friend requests, I'll need a request from another RV player; Steam name is Klinkin. Also, is it just me, or are the TF2 servers really laggy?

Uhm... could be graphical lag? What are your computers specs? TF2's stated requirements are such bull Fuzzy Bunny with how unoptimized the game has become since release.

Straight-up internet lag. Stuttering, start-and-stop movement, the whole nine yards. Only really happens with TF2. My computer's fine; 4GB RAM, good GPU...nothing top-of-the-line, but it's extremely solid. According to a friend, Valve's servers are having a hard time with the sudden influx of new players, but no one else seems to be complaining about lag.

Are you using that new matchmaking thing? If so, I'd recommend you try using the server browser instead.

I'll try that. Just updated Java, of all things, and that seemed to solve the issue.

I'm also learning how vital it is to have an Engineer. Teleporters and dispensers are unmatched in their sheer logistical value.

Engineers are easily the most logistically important members of a team, other than Medics. The reason most people don't play them as often as other classes are probably due to the relative inactivity the role of their class has. I'm not making stupid inferences, I would assume some of you agree. I play Engineer somewhat and it's OK, but I mainly play Huntsman Sniper or Medic (at least you're near the front lines more). When I do play Engineer I go for Gunslinger/hope-for-some-kills-with-this-puny-sentry-so-I-can-get-revenge-crits tactics which, for the most part, actually can work if you know where to put the stupid turret in an obscure corner where no one ever looks and hope they have half their health gone. Playing regularly (like putting Dispensers and Teleporters down and gaurding them) is just kinda boring to me. Other than the occasional Spy/Demoman/lame Ubercharged Heavies being problems, it's pretty much an uneventful class.

But when you actually have GOOD Engineers on your team who know how to place their equipment, and have teammates gaurd them when they move stuff from one place to another (which isn't often :/ )the game flows CONSIDERABLY more and can easily turn the tides in any game, usually thanks to Teleporters. And then along comes a Spy and backstabs you when you turn around for the one second to taunt with a teammate or move a sentry on the OTHER side of your Dispenser.

Wrangler is OK, but isn't really practical unless you're in an open area (which you really shouldn't be since that's like a giant neon sign above your head saying: HEADSHOT THIS TROLOLO) or Heavy/Medic pairs tend to be a nuisance so you can get the defensive/slightly higher DPS bonus. And you run out of ammo a lot and Spies are a constant problem with your back always facing one way. I just think pistols are better for picking off spies at long range or other reasons around that same example.

best way to play engineer = gunslinger and uh the frontier justice and play engi like a scout, throw up a dispenser where you need one, put up teles then get 200 metal and go drop some mini sentrys and rape with your shotgun and do damage, honestly best way to play him in most games :)

I actually like the more defensive, less active style of a standard engineer. Call it turtling, but it works. That said, about half the time I go off and take potshots at things with my pistol after I get my forward base up and running, so I'm probably going to grab a Gunslinger when I get it and use mini-turrets for harass. I find that the shotgun is a bit too close-range for my taste, but it's fun when I have crits saved up (in a recent game, I played defensively, got 22 crits to use, and just went on a rampage).

All your buildings are destroyed when you switch wrenches though, so unless you already had the Gunslinger out to begin with...

Earlier this week they made a post about their thought process and early iterations of Meet the Medic. It's a pretty interesting read; it also explains the Spy's head in the fridge (it wasn't quite so random after all.)

This weekend wouldn't be a bad time. If not then next weekend. I'm game.
Pun intended.

Next weekend would be nice or even later this week (Thursday or Friday).

This weekend is entirely impossible for me (and my server) because I will be in San Diego. 8-[

After this vacation I'll be stressing out less about having to pack everything though so we should be in much better shape. :D I've been really wanting to play again, too!

So I found a Berliners Bucket Helm whilst playing last night. Crafted it together with my Noble Assortment and got the Sight for Sore Eyes for the Pyro. :D To say it goes great with the Pyromancer's Mask is an understatement.

If we are going to have a RV game, where would it be? Does RV host a TF2 server? I'm down for any time this week, or next weekend.

Jaron runs the server off his laptop and it's only up when he can have it up.
