So I'm thinking on buying a good gaming laptop but have no clue what I want. I was wondering if anyone knew a good laptop to game on for under like $1000. (Dollars)

This. Unless, for whatever reason, you want portability, go for a laptop. In the long run, a desktop will be better.

Oh man Jan, you just got zinged by Riptide. How much does THAT suck?

Well, statistically speaking, slightly more than a giant suckusaur. A dire one.

Yeah, portability can be a huge factor.
Me, for example. I'm always travelling for work.

Gaming requires power though, you'll get maybe 1 hour at best of gaming time without a power plug.

I don't know where you got that statistic, but that's dead wrong. Maybe if you're playing Skyrim on Ultra settings with max brightness and sound, but even then, that's a stretch.

Also never leave your brightness on max on a laptop, it drains the battery super quick.

You'd be surprised at how many outlets are always around you ;)

My two cents: I bought a Lenovo Y510 this year because I went off to grad school. It's served me very well, and it runs TF2 and Sanctum 2 beautifully. I just bought Starcraft 2 and other stuff so I'll be playing even more things on it soon.

The catch: Well I did opt for the second graphics card instead of the CD drive so that'll raise the price, and if the laptop is not plugged in it automatically lowers its power (Sanctum 2 was playable but too laggy to use the sniper rifle effectively, for instance). So if I want to play games I plug it in, and otherwise it's great for my portable schoolwork.

Also from past experience (albeit 7 years ago) I wouldn't really recommend Alienware.

From what I've seen, Alienware is sort of like macs: You pay for pretty casing and a brand name.
