Want to chat with other RuneVillagers while playing RuneScape? All Villagers are welcome to join our RuneScape Clan Chat channel, "RuneVillage". Just remember these few simple rules as you talk with other members of RV.

Quote:
Clan Chat Participation Rules
1. All normal RuneScape rules apply. A list of these rules can be found here.
2. All RuneVillage rules apply. A list of these rules can be found here.
3. Do not abuse profanity within the Clan Chat. While people have the option to keep their filter on, nobody wants to see excessive cursing, censored or otherwise. Excessive profanity will be treated as disruptive behavior. As with RuneScape rules, cursing is never to be directed offensively at other players within the Clan Chat.
4. DO NOT evade a kick or ban from the Clan Chat by using an alternate account.
5. The language of the Clan Chat is English. While the occasional "Bonjour" or "Auf Wiedersehen" are fine, an entire non-English conversation is not. If you want to speak to a friend in an alternate language, please do so through private messaging rather than the Clan Chat.
6. If you have a problem with a particular user or one of Clan Chat's moderators, please bring it to the attention of the Clan Chat Manager or an Administrator rather than voicing your concerns within the Clan Chat.
7. The spirit of RuneVillage should be represented within the Clan Chat. Please keep the Village Values in mind while in the Clan Chat.

Breaking any of these rules will result in a verbal warning and/or a kick (one hour ban) from the Clan Chat. Continued abuse will result in step ups and temporary/permanent bans. Also keep in mind that you can and will be reported and/or muted for breaking RuneScape rules within the Clan Chat.

The Clan Chat Moderators have the ability to kick, and being kicked out of the channel automatically includes a one-hour ban from the Clan Chat. This will also result in the loss of your "Recruit" rank if you have one. For reference, here are how the ranks are designated:

Clan Chat Ranks:
Owner - Goten (Goatmeal)
Deputy Owner - RuneVillage Administrators
Admin - Clan Chat Moderators
Recruit - Clan Chat members

Continued abuse of the rules within our Clan Chat will result in temporary and/or permanent bans from the Clan Chat. A detailed explanation of our punishment system can be found below.

So remember, if you're ever playing RuneScape, come on into our Clan Chat "RuneVillage"! We'll be waiting!

Note: For those of you who are not a member of the Clan Chat, you will need to enter using the Guest Clan Chat feature. Doing so will require you to use /// before your messages for them to appear in the Clan Chat.

Members of the Clan Chat are automatically entered upon login, and require // before their messages. If you wish to become a member of the Clan Chat, simply contact a Clan Chat Moderator. You will need to meet with them in-game for them to invite you.

Clan Chat Punishment System
Strikes
Strikes Image are the system we use in the Clan Chat to determine "Step Ups". Strikes will accumulate through Verbal Warnings or Kicks made against a user. Upon collection of 5 Strikes, a user will receive a Step Up in the Clan Chat punishment system and the associated ban time will be issued. Any additional Strikes past the five that are required for a Step Up will roll over towards the next Step Up. (Example: User with 4 Strikes is kicked from the clan chat. 4 + 2 = Step Up and 1 Strike)

* Strikes will be removed from a user's record over time with good behavior.

Note: Automatic Step Ups may be given at the discretion of the Clan Chat Manager in cases of extreme misbehavior, regardless of a user's current Step or Strike count.

  • Verbal Warning - One (1) Strike Image
If a user is being disruptive in the Clan Chat, they will receive a Verbal Warning. This warning will be documented by the Clan Chat Moderator who issues it, and count as one Strike towards a Step Up.

  • Kick - Two (2) Strikes Image Image
Continued disruptive behavior in the Clan Chat, or other forms of rule breaking, will warrant a kick from the Clan Chat. This is also a one hour ban, and will be documented by the Clan Chat Moderator who issues it. A kick from the Clan Chat counts as two Strikes towards a step up. If a user is kicked after being issued a warning, the Strikes from both offenses will be added together, resulting in three (3) Strikes total.

Note: If you are a member of the Clan Chat and need to be kicked, your "Recruit" rank will be removed, meaning that you will need to use the Guest Clan Chat Feature once your temporary ban has been lifted. A Clan Chat Moderator will re-invite you to be a member of the Clan Chat at their convenience.

Also be aware that, if a moderator feels that the current topic of discussion within the Clan Chat is inappropriate, they will request a change of subject. Failure to change the discussion topic following a moderator's request may result in warnings and/or kicks, depending on the situation.

Note: Bypassing the one hour ban of a kick by entering the Clan Chat on a different account will count as an automatic Step Up. Continued bypasses will result in further steps.

The Clan Chat Step System
(Step 1) First ban: 48 hours
(Step 2) Second ban: 1 week
(Step 3) Third ban: 1 month
(Step 4) Indefinite ban*

* A user may appeal an indefinite ban six months after receiving it. An appeal letter may be sent to the Clan Chat Manager (Goten) and the appeal will be discussed among the Clan Chat Moderators to determine if it should be accepted or denied. Any user returning from an indefinite ban will be on Step 3 as a "probation period."

Note: Bypassing any of these ban periods by entering the Clan Chat on an alternate account will result in an automatic step up on both the Clan Chat and the forums. This means that, should you receive a ban that takes you from Step 1 to Step 2 in the Clan Chat, and then intentionally bypass it, you will receive two step ups on the forums (one for the step up in the Clan Chat, and one for the ban evasion).

A user will be stepped down to the previous step after one month of good behavior. If a user has continual behavioral problems within the Clan Chat, they may remain at their current step until there is a noticeable change in attitude.

Clan Chat to RuneVillage Forum Punishments
Disruptive behavior within the Clan Chat may carry over punishments to the forums. For every step up above Step 1 (Step 2 and upwards) a user receives within the Clan Chat, they will receive a step up on the forums as well.

Recently, there have been many villagers posting topics complaining about reporting being done within our Clan Chat.

RuneVillage has always obeyed and enforced the rules of Jagex, and the Clan Chat is a way to enjoy the RuneVillage community directly within the RuneScape environment. As such, RuneScape rules are expected to be followed at all times. While the chat that goes on within the Clan Chat is separate from the general chat, that does not mean RuneScape rules don't still apply.

The staff of RuneVillage will see that these rules are obeyed, which is why we try our best to never leave the Clan Chat unsupervised. You should always expect that any broken rule will be reported, even if a moderator does not deem the offense worthy of a kick from the Clan Chat. The moderators moderate the chat, but anyone is free to report a broken rule.

That being said, simply stick to the RuneScape rules if you don't want to be reported. Even if it's something minor, a broken rule can be reported by anyone. If you are reported within the Clan Chat, do not ask who reported you. They are at no wrong for reporting a broken rule.

This applies to any complaints of being reported within RuneScape really, inside the Clan Chat or otherwise. Only when Jagex deems the report as valid will they take action. If you're given black marks and/or a mute by Jagex, that is at no fault of the reporter.

Any topics concerning reporting within the Clan Chat, or complaints of being reported in general, will be locked. In addition, topics pertaining to being kicked or banned from the Clan Chat will also be locked.

Thanks,
- The RuneVillage Staff
