I don't remember seeing many "page not found" logs for the lowercase version in the past though.

If you want to have /thepub/ also work, mod_speling is a solution or a mod_rewrite rule that redirects /thepub/ to /ThePub/ would also work. I don't remember seeing many "page not found" logs for the lowercase version in the past though.
