Because when Thanksgiving came around, RV didn't work for me, couldn't use it for a while, and then decided to use a proxy. Now that Hiker changed something I need a proxy no longer and RV finally works.
EDIT: forgot to say, thank you very much Hiker :glad:!

I haven't tried what's in Muffin's topic.

What's worked for me, is:
Make sure any connections you use are functioning (For me, ethernet plugged in and wireless connected)
Open the Command Prompt (Run as an administrator)
Type ipconfig/release and press enter
Type ipconfig/renew and press enter

Should reset your IP to one the server hasn't deemed unwanted.

Actually, that would only reset the IP your computer has in your private network (you know, the intranet), and even then it may not depending on router settings

Though if your computer is directly connected to the internet (no router or anything) and you have a dynamic IP, I guess it may work, but I'm not sure about that

Now we at least have some clue how exactly this is happening.

And no, there wouldn't be any concerns in you saying so. IP bans are sort of useless nowadays anyway. Only for cases where a certain server is connecting to us all the time they'd be useful. But we have other defences in place for that already.

EDIT: perhaps one of those functions is resulting in an endless loop, which then gets detected by the server - which then blocks you out. Hmm...

Greetings,
Glodenox

I know Glode and already knows about this, along with Sammy and whoever else it has happened too (Sarah I think? And maybe Penguinguy. I saw Monk mention he'd been having trouble getting on), but I noticed that both times it's happened to me the banning was preceded by me trying to do something in chat. Occurrence 1 happened when I tried to use a command for chat mafia, and occurrence 2 when I tried to ring the bell. So I'm hoping that might give some clues to the problem.

Also, I'm wondering if it might be smart to alert people about this and let them know how to get around it. It's pretty simple for Vista, and once someone banned as such can get here with a proxy, it would be nice to show them how to fix the problem.
I'd go about writing that up (for Windows at least), but would there be any concerns about people using this to learn in advance how to pass *actual* IP bans?
