Part 33: How it Ends
“Welcome.” The light faded, and sound returned. Magma could be seen flowing into a massive pit, but that was about all that was visible, the light still burnt into Jamie‘s retinas. “To Hell.”
A fist in Jamie’s gut brought the sense of touch back. He flew across the area, the dirt that ended up in his mouth when he landed brought back taste. Everything stung his nostrils. Was something… burning? Jamie felt his hair tugged on, and something pulled him up, and threw him against the wall. His sight was beginning to return. Whoever was attacking him was definitely a person. He reached for his mithril scimitar, but was interrupted by what felt like something plowing into him and spinning on the impact point. He said to himself ‘Ah. My pain receptors woke up. Ouch.’
---------------------
Dwarves and Black Knights fighting? “Kill the fools!” shouted one of the soldier leading the knights. “Mountain Oracle, watch over us! We will liberate you of the evil ones!” shouted a Dwarf, who had just imbedded his hammer in the skull of a knight.
Rangerbane quickly knew which side to choose, and loaded an arrow onto his string. Steady… Swoosh! Hit the mark right on, and the Black Knight clobbered to the ground. The battle had spread around the whole mountain base, and Rangerbane continued on, working his way toward the fortress, picking off any nearby Black Knights.
---------------------
“Is this how it ends then, Tahu?” said Jamie, his vision blurry no longer. He sat, bloodied and weak against the wall of this underground chamber. Sarkus lay on the ground several feet away, still unconscious. More pain. “Tahu, stop it, and talk to me. What the hell happened to you?”
“You really want to know? Power, and corruption. They gave me power, and I outburst against them. So, they corrupted me. I don’t know how they did it, but I fell unconscious and woke up, different inside. That made me abuse my power, and power breeds corruption, and now… I’m not myself anymore. But I see a new path. With Timebender, I can reverse what they have done to me! And you…” Tahu’s eyes glowed white at this point. “These eyes that Valacious had… they had more powers than he told me. I can see, that you and three others know the location of it. So, I want you to tell me…” His eyes glowed fiercer than before. “Where it is?!”
“Look into yourself. Even I can see that you like the power. You like what you are doing with it. You wouldn’t save yourself with Timebender. It would just be an addition to your collection of destruction!” shouted Sarkus, who had gotten up while Tahu had been speaking, and quickly fired an Arymadyl’s Love spell at Tahu, blasting him to the side.
“Fine. So be it.” said Tahu, shaking the blow off, and standing up. He snapped his fingers, and the lava pit far below began to shake. “If I can not get you to tell me, I will kill you, reach into your mind and find out!” His hands began to glow with fire. “Jamie, Sarkus, DIE!”
And the end began.
-----------------------
“Vyvin, you died a warrior’s death. The death of a White Knight. There would be no more of an honorable death.” said Tiffy.
“What does this mean for the knights?” asked one in the crowd.
“We’ve lost our leader and one of our best!”
“The Black Knights will just attack again, and we will be the ones to lose!”
Tiffy chuckled as he looked into the distance. “Don’t be too quick to judge. For today may be the day of our victory!” he shouted, seeing the dwarven messenger in the distance. He already knew what his message was. “Send for the clerics to treat the wounded. As for the rest of us… We fight to the end! To Ice Mountain, now!”
The white knights charged past Sir Tiffy, who believed he had the strength in him for a battle at his own age. “We fight to the end.” he repeated, as the army continued to charge past him.Statistics: Posted by Topsummoner — January 11th, 2008, 4:55 pm
